UFC 200 just got a bit more crowded.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will defend her title for the first time against Amanda Nunes at the monumental pay-per-view (PPV) event on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tate -- who recently inked a contract extension to remain with UFC -- won the title just four weeks ago after she choked out Holly Holm in the fifth round of their title fight at UFC 196 (see it again here). The win was Tate's fifth straight inside the Octagon.
Not bad for someone who contemplated retirement not too long ago.
As for Nunes, she is currently riding a three-fight win streak, with her most previous victory coming over Valentina Shevchenko, also at UFC 196. After the bout, "Leoa" demanded a shot at the women's strap. And those calls did not fall on deaf ears, as White and Co. gave her what she so desired.
UFC 200 will feature a main event bout between current Featherweight champ, Conor McGregor, taking on Nate Diaz in what will be a do-over of their entertaining scrap at UFC 196 (details here). Plus, Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will duke it out for the right to face "Notorious" for the 145-pound strap later this year.
