World Series of Fighting (WSOF) is beefing up its heavyweight division -- literally -- with a pair of power-punching monsters.
Former Arena Football League star Lorenzo Hood and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) import Shawn Jordan have both put pen to paper for exclusive, multi-fight agreements under the Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, which recently unveiled a corporate office in New York City.
"We are thrilled to welcome Lorenzo Hood and Shawn Jordan to our ever-growing roster of world-class athletes, and look forward to seeing both of them compete in our heavyweight division soon," said World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo.
Hood (9-3) -- who captured all nine of his victories by devastating knockout -- will make his promotional debut against an opponent to be named at the upcoming WSOF 31: "Ivanov vs. Copeland" event at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., on Friday, June 17, 2016 on NBCSN.
Jordan (18-7) parted ways with ZUFFA after a decision loss at UFC 192 last October; however, "The Savage" came into that bout on the strength of a three-fight winning streak -- all knockouts -- including his finish over heavyweight bruiser Derrick Lewis.
While a date for his debut has yet to be determined, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Hood and Jordan find themselves sharing the cage.
We're gonna need more popcorn.
