Kevin Costner: MMA should be an Olympic sport because it's where 'real tough guys exist'

Over the past 20 years, mixed martial arts (MMA) has broken barriers many thought impossible, establishing itself as a legitimate sport thanks in large part to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

So, why hasn't it made its way to the Olympics?

That's what Hollywood mega star Kevin Costner is wondering, as he tells TMZ Sports that MMA should be included in the next Olympic games (and beyond) because the sport has the real tough guys in it.

"I think it should be in the Olympics. I do. I don't know why it wouldn't go into the next one, it pretty much established itself as one of the greatest sports out there. I think it's where the real tough guys exist.

Table tennis, anyone?

If MMA hopes to get into the Olympics, it will likely have to wait until 2020, as this year's games are all set for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

And one can only imagine the type of homecoming the bevy of Brazilian UFC stars would have received if the sport was already included. Plus, fight fans would finally get to see fighters from different organizations compete against one another.

And what fight fan wouldn't want that?
