Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has some explaining to do.
Sure, all that powerlifting may have impressed the star-struck bro-squad at his gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but it also left him in hot water with his head coach, Greg Jackson, who believes "Bones" was gassed in the final round of his Ovince Saint Preux fight (video).
Corner audio transcribed by MMA Junkie:
The Final Bell
Jackson: That's our fight.
Israel Martinez: He did all right coach.
Jackson: Powerlifting's a problem. He gasses. I only want to do an I-told-you-so dance right now.
Jones was lambasted for his performance after the curtain fell at UFC 197.
To be fair, "Bones" was on the sidelines from January of 2015 all the way up until his pay-per-view (PPV) return last Sat. night (April 23, 2016) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which may have also contributed to his lack of fight night conditioning.
I guess we'll find out here.
