While former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones didn't finish Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 last night (Sat., April 23, 2016) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, he did enough to showcase his world-class skill.
Some may argue that Jones didn't look completely back from more than a year off from competition, but those people most likely reside on Daniel Cormier's side of the fence. The fact of the matter is that "OSP" proved to be as tough as he is athletically inclined. Even when Jones pressed him with slicing oblique kicks and tremendous striking, the former college football star stood in the pocket and delivered bombs.
What makes things even crazier is that UFC President Dana White confirmed after the fight in an interview with Megan Olivi that Saint Preux suffered a broken arm in the fourth round.
Wow. That means the 33-year-old Light Heavyweight contender went toe-to-toe with the best in the world during championship rounds with one arm. The weekend may belong to Jones and his anticipated comeback to the sport, but "OSP" made a name for himself last night at UFC 197.
