UFC 197 results: Demetrious Johnson blows out Henry Cejudo with brutal knees, scores first round finish

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Top pound-for-pound star -- and the only Flyweight champion that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has ever known -- was out to prove that elite mixed martial arts (MMA) can trump world-class wrestling when he took on Olympic gold medal winner, Henry Cejudo, in the UFC 197 co-main event tonight (Sat., April 23, 2016) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And, once again, it was another blowout win for "Mighty Mouse," who had no trouble with Cejudo's wrestling, drilling him with knees in the clinch en route to a first round technical knockout finish.

Cejudo was the aggressor to start the championship clash, looking to close the distance and slow down the insane pace that "Mighty Mouse" sets. He was able to get Johnson in a clinch, but couldn't do anything with it as Johnson blasted him with a hard right hook. Undeterred, Cejudo went for another takedown and got it, but Johnson kicked him off seconds later. Johnson landed a nice knee along the cage that made Cejudo wince, then and elbow and another shot on the break that stunned Cejudo. Johnson smelled blood in the water and quickly attacked Cejudo, who crumbled to the bottom of the cage and covered up after another knee to the gut and a left hand. The referee jumped in moments later as Johnson dished out two more strikes to Cejudo, who was curled in a ball at the bottom of the fence.

Wow. It wasn't even close -- total blowout of the No. 2-ranked fighter in the division. Who's next? Who knows.
