UFC on FOX 19 results: Glover Teixeira knocks out Rashad Evans cold in first, calls out Antony Johnson

Glover Teixeira (25-4) continues to prove why he is still one of the most dangerous and powerful punchers in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight division .

Teixeira, 36, knocked out Rashad Evans (19-5) at UFC on FOX 19 earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2016) inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. It marked the first time ever that Evans has been finished in the opening round and only the second time he's been knocked out in his entire career.

The No. 4-ranked UFC 205-pound fighter stalked Evans from the opening bell and landed a few solid strikes early in the round. With little more than three minutes left, Teixeira landed a huge left hook that sent Evans to the canvas and followed that up with a big right hand to boot.

The official time of the stoppage was 1:48 of the first round.

"I'm here to fight. I'll fight three rounds. I'll fight five rounds. I'll fight to a finish or no time limit. I don't care. I'm a fighter," Teixeira told Joe Rogan after the fight."

When Rogan asked him where he feels he's at in the division, Texieira called out  Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.

"'Rumble" Johnson is waiting around for [Jon]Jones and [Daniel] Cormier, he is so popular. He doesn't want to wait around. Let's dance baby. Let's make some money. I have a lot of respect for Anthony Johnson, he is a great guy, but like I say, we are here to do business. Let's do business."

It was a huge win for Texieira, who should get another top opponent next. The No.2-ranked Johnson would certainly be a fun matchup. Teixeira improves to 8-2 in UFC. Meanwhile, it was a tough and debilitating loss for Evans, who has now lost two in a row. He falls to 14-5 in the UFC.
