Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight slugger Mark Hunt, 42, just signed the deal of a lifetime with the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, one that is expected to keep him around for another six fights.
And while his new contract is designed to return millions, the "Super Samoan" told Stuff.co.nz it's not about the money.
"It's not about the money. Of course I had to get paid for my work but I want that title. Dana gave me a message and we talked about it. There were some back and forth negotiations. I think I still deserve a title shot and in the end I thought six fights should do it. I'm glad to finish my career at the top end with the UFC. I want to bring the gold down under."
I hope he remembers to say thank you.
Hunt (12-10-1) is coming off back-to-back knockout victories over Antonio Silva (UFC 193) and Frank Mir (UFC Fight Night 85). He's currently ranked No. 8 in the division and could be a couple of big wins (or one untimely injury) away from a title shot.
Is it time to rally yet?
