Wanderlei Silva signs multi-year contract with RIZIN, debuts April 17 in Japan

Party peoplllllle! Yeahhhhh, tag team grappling in full effect!

Fresh off his recent contract with Bellator MMA (more on that here), ex-UFC smasher Wanderlei Silva continued to broaden his horizons by inking a multi-year deal with RIZIN FF, effectively giving himself the best of both worlds, and will debut on April 17, 2016 in Nagoya, Japan.

As one half of a grappling tag team.

"The Axe Murderer" and a partner to be determined will face off against combat sports legends Kazushi Sakuraba and Hideo Tokoro inside Nippon Gaishi Hall, because this is "The Land of the Rising Sun" and this kind of stuff makes sense over there.

Can't be any nuttier than this.

Silva is expected to compete under MMA rules at a later date (as promised), presumably after his stateside suspension expires in 2017. Additional bouts for next month's "Top Presents RIZIN Fighting Federation I" event include a 180-pound showdown pitting Hisaki Kato (5-2) against Yuta Watanabe (19-6-4).

Elsewhere on the card, Rena Kubota (1-0 MMA, 31-5-1 shoot boxing) and Kanako Murata (0-0) will face opponents to be determined.

Stay tuned (or don't).
