Women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm and two-time title challenger Miesha Tate will go toe-to-toe in the lone title fight on the stacked UFC 196 pay-per-view (PPV) card TONIGHT (Sat., March 5, 2016) inside MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Cupcake" is billed as the underdog heading into her friendly tussle with "Preacher's Daughter." In case you weren't sold by any of the lines Vegas offers, let some of the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion's finest combatants give you their take on the exchange, courtesy of MMA Junkie.
Ilir Latifi: Holm
"I think Holly's going to take it. She's been looking good."
Diego Sanchez: Holm
"It's going to be a hard job taking Holly down because of the speed and the movement she possesses."
Carneiro: Holm
Isaac Vallie-Flagg: Holm
"Holly is going to stick to her gameplan and in the end I see her finishing the fight in the second round again."
Tom Lawlor: Tate
"Miesha is going to shoot for takedowns instead of trying to clinch up with Holly and deal with her upper body strength."
Amanda Nunes: Tate
Donald Cerrone: Holm
"On the business side I have to say Miesha, but on my heart and team side I have to say Holly."
Jim Miller: Holm
"I'm going with Holly. She's got a lot of weapons and I think she's going to win pretty easily."
Corey Anderson: Holm
"I gotta go with Holly. I like how she moves, kind of like the female version of Frankie Edgar. She's always moving on her feet."
So there you have it, seven votes for Holm and two for the No. 2-ranked Tate.
Of course, Holm makes her first title defense after ousting previous champion Ronda Rousey with strikes in round two of a UFC 193 main event last November. Tate, on the other hand, has won four consecutive fights over talented stars like Sara McMann and Liz Carmouche.
