UFC 196: Conor McGregor poised to make historic $1 million guaranteed purse to fight Nate Diaz

Add another record to the "Notorious" collection.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Break out your best Dr. Evil voice because the disclosed purse for mixed martial arts (MMA) sensation Conor McGregor at UFC 196 is an estimated $1 million, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission (as reported by ESPN).

McGregor, 19-2, talks a lot about how much he likes the color of money and right about now he must be seeing all green. The figure is the first $1 million disclosed purse in UFC history.

But wait ... there's more.

McGregor will make a lot more than that in his appearance at UFC 196, as the reported figure doesn't include his pay-per-view (PPV) bonuses, sponsorship deals or any potential fight night bonuses from UFC.

With a 13-second performance at UFC 194 and an estimated 1.2 million pay-per-view buys, McGregor shattered Ronda Rousey's earnings per second mark. He also took home a $50,000 "Performance of the Night" award that event for the stunning knockout.

McGregor has told other media this week he expects to make north of $10 million. Not bad, considering he's not even fighting his original opponent. For the sake of comparison, McGregor reportedly banked $8 million total for his 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo a few months ago (details).

He's getting closer to his seemingly absurd financial goal.

Nonetheless, according to ESPN, his UFC 196 purse doesn't include a win bonus.

As for Diaz, much as McGregor liked to say during the press conferences, he's now quite a bit richer with a straight $500,000 purse to show (no win bonus). So, 13 seconds or 1,500 seconds, he makes the same amount of money.

That purse is equal to what women's Bantamweight champion Holly Holm will earn, a stratospherically higher number than Miesha tate, who will earn $46,000 for showing up on fight night, and double that if she pulls off the upset.
