Chris Weidman is sucking it up, will deflate Fluke Rockhold's cocky head at UFC 199

A cocky UFC middleweight champion? I can't imagine.

Even so, former 185-pound kingpin Chris Weidman is not going to stand for any cockiness from Luke Rockhold, who stopped the "All American" in the UFC 194 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event last December. And that starts with proving his opponent's first win was a fluke.

Weidman elaborates to MMA Fighting:

"I've taken situations like [injury] and gotten through it and gotten Ws. I thought it was gonna be another day like that and I was wrong. I feel like he's cocky and I gave him a bigger head and gave him something to be even more cocky about. It sucks for me. I've gotta suck it up. I got a chance to deflate the head. That's the goal. I have to go back in there and feed him some humble pie. There's no question in my mind that I'm gonna go out there and make a statement, completely dominate him and make sure everybody knows the last fight was a fluke."

Weidman claims to have fought with a fractured foot.

Whether or not he's the cockier better middleweight will be decided after the cage door closes in the UFC 199 main event. That's where Rockhold will make his first title defense inside The Forum in Los Angeles, California (more on that do-over here).

Anyone out there in MMA land still riding the "All American" hype train?
