You know it's a 2016 mixed martial arts (MMA) story when we're writing about what isn't happening. Namely, UFC middleweight ish-disturber Michael Bisping, bragging about not failing his latest random drug test.
Bisping has been relentless in taunting "The Spider" about his 2015 drug test failure at UFC 183 which revealed positive traces of the steroids Drostanolone and Androstane.
Silva was further humiliated when his lawyers argued that it was his performance in the bedroom, or lack thereof, which was responsible for his willingness to "enhance" his abilities.
Since their UFC Fight Night 84 pairing was announced to headline the London, England, Fight Pass card on Feb. 27, 2016, "The Count" has spent most of his time juxtaposing Silva's drug failure with his clean record.
This type of trash talking usually works best when Silva isn't around to respond, as evidenced by the time Bisping tried to crash a media scrum and was basically owned by the GOAT.
Still, that hasn't kept the brash Brit from predicting a headkick knockout on Silva. Bisping owns no knockouts on his 24-fight UFC resume, however he has stopped nine fighters with his signature technical volume striking.
Indeed, "The Count" even mocked himself playfully when he accidentally kicked his striking coach Jason Parillo in the head.
"I've got no power, I'm a pussy," joked Bisping afterward.
Nevertheless, you can bet the Manchester native will be aiming to decapitate his opponent for real when next weekend rolls around. And if I've learned anything from watching this sport for 20-plus years, anything can happen.
