Cowboy up!

Following his second loss to Rafael dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone has elected to explore the Welterweight division's pastures, where he will meet Brazil's Alex Oliveira in the main event of UFC Fight Night 83, which takes place this Sunday night (Feb. 21, 2015) inside CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The FOX Sports 1-televised card will also feature a Middleweight showdown between Derek Brunson and Roan Carneiroo, as well as the Octagon debut of jiu-jitsu legend Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes against Cody Garbrandt.

UFC Fight Night 83 Odds For The Undercard:

Sean Strickland (-125) vs. Alex Garcia (+105)
Daniel Sarafian (-195) vs. Oluwale Bamgbose (+165)
Anthony Smith (-170) vs. Leonardo Guimaraes (+130)
Jonavin Webb (-240) vs. Nathan Coy (+200)
Marion Reneau (-175) vs. Ashlee Evans-Smith (+155)
Lauren Murphy (-310) vs. Kelly Faszholz (+230)
Shamil Abdurakhimov (-115) vs. Anthony Hamilton (-105)

Thoughts: Either I’m getting gunshy or the people making the lines are getting better, because pickings have been slim this year. I do, however, believe Reneau is worth a look.

Honestly, I think Evans-Smith’s win over Fallon Fox has artificially inflated people’s perceptions of her abilities. She ended her amateur career on a 1-4 run, getting finished each time, and just seems rather outclassed by "Bruiser." Unless Reneau’s age catches up to her in an instant, she ought to be able to dominate this fight.

Bet accordingly.

After the main bet, I usually like to say something along the lines of "X is worth a look as well," but I’m struggling here. Hamilton comes to mind, though I’ve been burned by the big man before. Probably best to leave this be.

UFC Fight Night 83 Odds For The Main Card:

Donald Cerrone (-280) vs. Alex Oliveira (+240)
Derek Brunson (-370) vs. Roan Carneiro (+310)
Cody Garbrandt (-330) vs. Augusto Mendes (+270)
Dennis Bermudez (-325) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (+265)
Chris Camozzi (-260) vs. Joe Riggs (+220)
James Krause (-150) vs. Shane Campbell (+130)

Thoughts: Riggs may be a walking pile of lingering injuries held together by duct tape and positive thinking, but a 2:1 underdog against Chris Camozzi? That’s just not right.

Camozzi is and always has been the division’s most consistently mediocre fighter. Though his recent losses did not come against poor opposition, he’s been thoroughly unimpressive in all of his efforts. Riggs’ wrestling and ground-and-pound ought to pay dividends, so put some down on the old man.

Among the others, Garbrandt will give you positive odds if parlayed with Reneau, which seems like a sound investment. For all of "Tanquinho’s" jiu-jitsu prowess, he remains far too awkward and hittable on the feet to survive a puncher like Garbrandt, especially on less than one week’s notice.

UFC Fight Night 83 Best Bets:

  • Parlay -- Marion Reneau and Cody Garbrandt: Bet $60 to make $63
  • Single bet - Joe Riggs: Bet $30 to make $66

The injury bug: It's the reason we can't have nice things. See you Sunday, Maniacs!

Remember that will deliver live UFC Fight Night 83 results on fight night, which is as good a place as any to talk about all the action inside the Octagon, as well as what you've got riding on the sportsbook.

Initial Investment For 2016: $200
Current Balance: $197.75
