UFC Fight Night 102 live results stream, 'Lewis vs Abdurakhimov' play-by-play updates

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to action this Friday night (Dec. 9, 2016) inside Times Union Center in Albany, New York, for the UFC Fight Night 102: "Lewis vs. Abdurakhimov" mixed martial arts (MMA) event.

In the Fight Pass-exclusive headliner, scheduled for five rounds, UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis continues his march toward the upper echelon of the division opposite grizzled 265-pound slugger Shamil Abdurakhimov.

Meanwhile, in the heavyweight co-main event, the once-beaten Francis Ngannou looks to capture his eighth straight against the well-traveled Anthony Hamilton. Local favorites Corey Anderson and Gian Villante will also see action.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 102 MAIN CARD PLAY-BY-PLAY:

265 lbs.: Derrick Lewis vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov

Round 1: Abdurakhimov light on his feet, Lewis flat-footed. Lewis flings out a telegraphed head kick and Abdurakhimov takes him down into side control. Abdurakhimov looking for an americana. One minute in. Lewis bursts out of it and stands. Abdurakhimov staying heavy from the rear waistlock, threatening to snap Lewis down. Abdurakhimov grabs a leg, can’t use it and presses him against the fence. Two minutes in. Double underhooks for the Russian. He separates. Lewis whiffs on an uppercut and stuffs a level change. Two minutes to go.

Front kick misses for Lewis. He throws a straight right and ties up on the fence. Abdurakhimov reverses. They separate, one minute to go. Abdurakhimov catches a low kick and knocks Lewis off-balance with a right hand for the takedown. Full mount for “Abrek.” 10-9 Abdurakhimov.

Round 2: Counter right from Abdurakhimov and they tie up. Knee from Lewis as he’s hauled to the fence. Hammerfists to the thigh. Lewis tries a throw, fends off a level change. The ref separates them a minute in. Lewis got hit right in the eye by that first right hand and seems bothered. Low kick from Abdurakhimov and he takes Lewis to the fence again. Two minutes in. They separate; Lewis is still pawing at his eye. Abdurakhimov catches a low kick and takes top position. Two minutes to go.

Crowd’s not happy with the lack of action as Abrek chips away. Lewis spins for a leglock and makes it to his feet, landing hammerfists as Abdurakhimov carries a leg. Another takedown, this one into half guard. 10-9 Abdurakhimov.

Round 3: Lewis’s eye is really bothering him between rounds.

Lewis fires a knee and Abdurakhimov catches it, but can’t complete the takedown. Both land right hands near the fence. One minute in. Short uppercut lands for Lewis. Abdurakhimov circling, Lewis plodding after him. Two minutes in. Lewis grabs double underhooks, no luck on the level change. Back to the center. Lewis ducks a spinning back fist, wings two haymakers, and gets take down for it. Two minutes to go.

Abdurakhimov threatening the americana again. Now full guard. Ref stands them up with a minute to go. Lewis stepping in with ugly punches and missing. Dan Miragliotta warns Abdurakhimov for inactivity. Abrek lands a counter right before the bell. 10-9 Abdurakhimov.

Round 4: Lewis still advancing, still whiffing. Abdurakhimov catches a head kick and ties up on the fence. They separate. Lewis stuffs a shot and lands a right on the break. Uppercut connects a minute in. Abdurakhimov reverses position on the fence. Elbow from Abrek on the break. Two minutes in. Abdurakhimov tries to shoot under a right hand, eats a knee. Abdurakhimov comes up short with a spinning back kick. Another knee by Lewis, who grabs double underhooks and scores a takedown into side control. Two minutes to go.

Lewis dropping his usual brutal right hands. Knee-on-belly and now full mount for Lewis. In come the fully-postured punches and the referee steps in.

Final result: Lewis def. Abdurakhimov by TKO (punches)


265 lbs.: Anthony Hamilton vs. Francis Ngannou

Round 1: Tentative start; no strikes in the first minute. Ngannou fires a leg kick and Hamilton scores a takedown. A scramble ensues and Hamilton grabs the rear waistlock. Ngannou grabs a Kimura and spins Hamilton to the mat Sakuraba-style, immediately posturing up and cranking it for the tap.

Final result: Ngannou def. Hamilton by submission (Kimura)


205 lbs.: Corey Anderson vs. Sean O'Connell

Round 1: O’Connell sticking out his jab early. Body shot from Anderson, hook from O’Connell. Anderson hits a blast double, O’Connell pops up against the fence. Knees from Anderson in the clinch. He transitions from a single- to a double-leg, looks for the back when O’Connell stands, and scores another takedown into side control. O’Connell gets half guard. Two minutes in. Elbows from Anderson. Now some right hands as O’Connell tries to use the cage. Two minutes to go.

Heavy elbows by Anderson. O’Connell struggling to stand. Anderson staying heavy, landing in transition. One minute to go. O’Connell stands, gets slammed down into side control. Nasty elbows by Anderson. O’Connell gets half guard when Anderson tries hopping to mount. 10-9 Anderson.

Round 2: Anderson catches a leg kick and scores a quick takedown into half guard. Anderson heavy on top, landing short blows. One minute in. Anderson looking to pass the guard, cannot do so. Two minutes to go. Anderson looking to set up an arm-triangle, gets full mount. Solid punches from Anderson, who postures up. O’Connell has no answers and he covers up for the TKO stoppage.

Final result: Anderson def. O’Connell by TKO (punches)


205 lbs.: Gian Villante vs. Saparbek Safarov

Round 1: Stiff jab from Safarov to start, answered by a leg kick. Quick exchange in the center. Safarov already bleeding from below his left eye. Check hook by Safarov. One minute in. Another leg kick by Villante and a heavy left on the counter. Safarov knocks him back in return. Great exchanges so far. Villante decks Safarov with a counter jab, then an uppercut as the Russian scrambles up. Villante pounding away, looking for the finish. Two minutes in. When the finish isn’t there, he allows Safarov up. Safarov hurts his leg when a kick gets blocked and starts swinging wild. Villante staying patient, working behind a heavy jab. Right hand behind it. Two minutes to go.

Safarov lands a kick to the groin, pausing the action. They rsume and Safarov’s leg flares up again. He clips Villante with a 2-3 and now Villante may be hurt. Ovrhand right drops him, but he pops back up. One minute to go. Safarov swinging for the fences and Villante looks tired. Safarov changes levels on the fence, nothing there. Another overhand right by the Russian. Great round. 10-9 Villante.

Round 2: Villante comes out and kicks the leg, avoiding the follow-up flurry. 3-2 by Safarov. Leg kick from Villante. Another one, harder this time. Safarov still swinging big. One minute in. Left hook hurts Safarov as they exchange. Villante lands another leg kick and sprawls on a shot. Uppercuts and a knee inside. Safarov dives for a shot, can’t get it. Two minutes in. More right hands inside by Villante. Leg kick from Villante and a 1-1-2. Safarov covering up, backing to the fence. He shells up and Villante lands punches and elbows around the guard until the ref steps in.

Final result: Villante def. Safarov by TKO (punches and elbows)
