Bellator 169: "King Mo vs Ishii" goes down Dec. 16, 2016 at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The Bellator portion of the show airs live on Spike at 9 p.m. ET, while local fans can enjoy a co-promoted card that also includes BAMMA fights.
Like so many other Bellator cards in late 2016 this one has been bitten by the injury bug, and while the heavyweight main event between "King Mo" Muhammed Lawal (19-5, 1 NC) and Satoshi Ishii (14-6-1) remains intact, other bouts have been updated on late notice.
"The Weasel" Daniel Weichel (37-9) was set to face former UFC and recent BAMMA fighter Paul Redmond (11-6) on the televised card, but Redmond has withdrawn due to injury and been replaced by Ireland's own Brian Moore (9-4).
Moore comes in off back-to-back victories and has gotten a finish in seven of his nine wins, so his stock seems to be on the rise locally, although the experienced Weichel will easily be the toughest test of his career to date.
In addition Helen Harper (4-1) was originally set for a flyweight bout with Bruna Ellen (2-1), the latter looking to rebound from a decision loss at Bellator 159 in July. Ellen's replacement is Bruna Vargas (2-1) and the name and record aren't the only coincidences -- she too lost a match in July after being choked out by Emile Ducote.
These changes also come with a new fight for the card as bantamweights Shay Walsh (14-4) and Luiz Tosta (9-2) will scrap live on Spike TV, along with all of the other bouts listed below.
