Bellator 168, originally called "Carvalho vs. Manhoef 2," takes place inside Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy, this Saturday night (Dec. 10, 2016). The international mixed martial arts (MMA) event is still taking place as planned, but the name on the marquee has changed.
Rafael Carvalho has withdrawn from his rematch with Melvin Manhoef with an undisclosed injury. There was hope that their second encounter would be more definitive than their first in Boise earlier this year, but that will have to wait. Moving up to the main event slot will be hometown favorite, Alessio Sakara, taking on dangerous brawler "Mexicutioner" Joey Beltran. Coincidentally enough, this was the first confirmed fight when the card was announced.
"Legionarius" Sakara will look to pick up his third straight win following an impressive promotional debut at Bellator 152. Meanwhile, Beltran seeks to bounce back from a tough split decision loss to Chase Gormley earlier this year.
