GLORY 37 has a new headliner for the upcoming Los Angeles card on Jan. 20, 2016, with the previously announced main event moving over to the Superfight Series.
Jason Wilnis (29-6-2) will defend his GLORY middleweight title against No.3 contender Israel Adesanya (65-3) in the GLORY 37 main event inside The Novo, which is part of the L.A. Live Entertainment complex.
Wilnis defeated Simon Marcus via technical knockout at GLORY 33 in September to win the title. Meanwhile, Adesanya defeated Yousri Belgaroui and Robert Thomas to win the GLORY 34 Middleweight "Contender" tournament.
The original GLORY 37 headliner, a lightweight title fight between current champion Robin van Roosmalen and No.2-ranked lightweigh Marat Grigorian will now headliner the GLORY 37 Superfight Series.
Van Roosmalen, 27, who was once the GLORY lightweight champion, dropped down a weight class and defeated Gabriel Varga via technical knockout at GLORY 34 this past October to capture the featherweight strap. His challenger, Embree, turned in an impressive debut at GLORY 33 this past September when he knocked out Chi-bin Lim and Giga Chikadze in one night to win the Featherweight "Contender" tournament.
Also on the docket for GLORY 37 will be a heavyweight co-main event featuring Guto Inocente against an opponent yet to be named as well as a one-night, four man Welterweight "Contender" tournament. In the semi-final matchups, Yoann Kongolo takes on Konstantin Khuzin and Karim Benmansour faces Alan Scheinson.
GLORY 37 airs live on ESPN3 at 10 p.m. PT on Friday, Jan. 20, with a replay on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. PT on Sunday, Jan. 22.
