With Ronda Rousey returning to action against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes and UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz putting his title on the line opposite Team Alpha Male knockout artist Cody Garbrandt, it's easy to overlook the impending heavyweight rematch between former champions Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two heavyweights first met back at UFC 188, which saw Werdum submit Velasquez at altitude in Mexico City.
Before the two giants collide in what can only be considered a No. 1 contender's bout in the rather depleted heavyweight faction, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan takes some time out of his busy schedule to breakdown Velasquez's most memorable Octagon moments in the latest edition of "Ultimate 8," shown above courtesy of UFC. Rogan's rundown includes Velasquez's bloody stoppages of Antonio Silva, scintillating trilogy opposite Junior dos Santos, knockout victory over the legendary Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and defining title win over Brock Lesnar back in 2010.
If Velasquez can avenge his previous loss to Werdum and add to an already legendary UFC resume, he'll lock down yet another heavyweight title shot next year opposite current champion Stipe Miocic. However, Velasquez will have to get through yet another back surgery to make it to that point.
