Despite being convicted of third-degree felony child abuse and misdemeanor battery, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) “felt comfortable” signing heavyweight Cody East following a stint on Dana White’s “Lookin’ for a Fight” reality show.
Oops, he did it again.
East (12-3) was arrested by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday on charges of aggravated battery against a household member, aggravated assault, and false imprisonment, according to KRQE.
“I just kinda got into this bad lifestyle. That’s when I was 18, I’m 26 now,” East said prior to his first Octagon appearance. “I made some mistakes, I’ve grown from it. I’m a better man because of it.”
This report would suggest otherwise.
After impressing White earlier this year, East (12-3) was given two shots at UFC superstardom. “Freight Train” was promptly derailed by back-to-back technical knockout losses to Walt Harris (UFC 197) and Curtis Blades (UFC Fight Night 96).
East, who remains jailed on $30,000 bond, was released by UFC back in October.
