Coming off of his UFC 203 victory over CM Punk, young welterweight prospect Mickey Gall looked to continue his winning ways earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 17, 2016) at UFC on FOX 22 live on FOX from inside Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., as he met the ultra-talented Sage Northcutt in the co-main event. It was a pretty telling performance for Gall, who withstood some damage on the feet to capture the second-round submission win.
Gall ate a shot early to secure a takedown and gain control of “Super.” From there, Gall was able to put some pressure on Northcutt and force the 20-year-old to drain energy. Gall locked in a guillotine choke, but Northcutt was able to get his head out and back to his feet as the two prospects exchanged trash talk. As the second round began, Northcutt rocked Gall with a left hook and sent him to the canvas. After getting into more trouble on the feet, Gall swung for the fences, connected, sent “Super” tumbling to the canvas, grabbed Northcutt’s back and secured the rear-naked choke finish.

With this win, Gall improves to 4-0 in his career. At just 24 years of age, he has a truly bright future in the sport. But considering he hasn’t defeated anybody in the welterweight division of substantial worth, the verdict is still out as to whether he’s a future contender or a mid-tier talent. One thing is for sure, Gall can grapple his ass off.
