The upcoming UFC Fight Night 107 event — which is slated to go down in Fortaleza, Brazil, on March 11, 2017 -- is starting to shape up, as an intriguing Lightweight showdown between surging division contender Edson Barboza and Beneil Dariush has been pegged to take place inside Centro de Formação Olímpica do Nordeste.

The promotion announced the matchup earlier today.

Barboza is coming off two highly-impressive wins over former Strikeforce 155-pound champion and longtime veteran, Gilbert Melendez, at UFC on FOX 20 earlier this year. Prior to that, he defeated Anthony Pettis, giving him two straight wins over former champions.

As for Darisuh, he is also riding a two-fight win streak, which came at the expense of James Vick and Rashid Magomedov. Overall, Beneil has an impressive 8-2 record with the promotion.

As intriguing as the matchup is, one would’ve expected Barboza, the No. 5 ranked fighter in the world to get matchup with a higher-ranked for based off his previous two victories. Nevertheless, it should be a fun fight, as both men have a knack for letting out all of the action play out on the feet.

UFC Fight Night 107 is expected to a feature a Middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum. For more on that matchup click here.
