What a night!
UFC 206 — which went down last Saturday (Dec. 10, 2016) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, suffered one setback after another after losing it’s original main event when Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier suffered an injury that bounced him from his rematch against Anthony Johnson.
Plus, an intriguing Middleweight bout between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy was scrapped due to "Suga’s ongoing medical issues. Oh, and Anthony Pettis — one half of the revised headlining attraction — failed to make weight for his interim Featherweight bout against Max Holloway.
Yeah, if there was ever a cursed card, this was it.
Nevertheless, the pay-per-view (PPV) event turned out to be one of the best events of the year, as one fight after another delivered with non-stop, heart-pounding action including Holloway’s knockout win over Pettis, Donald Cerrone’s highlight reel finish over Matt Brown and Kelvin Gastelum’s absolute beatdown of Tim Kennedy.
Oh, and the "Fight of the Year" went down, as well, as Cub Swanson and Doo Ho Choi put on an entertaining fight for the ages that still has combat fans reeling.
The day prior, UFC Fight night 102 went down in Albany, New York with little fan fair, though Derrick Lewis picked up another stoppage win.
