The very talented Doo Ho Choi looked to build off of three-straight knockout finishes to begin his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) career when he met featherweight veteran Cub Swanson last night (Sat., Dec. 10, 2016) at UFC 206 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Choi had run through all of his opponents up to Swanson.
Choi turned it on early with meaningful knees inside and straight strikes from distance. But after Swanson found his groove and began to open up, he was able to land crisp combinations that backed the South Korean up. In Round 2, all hell broke loose. Swanson hurt Choi bad and pressed forward will mad intentions. On the doorstep of a stoppage, "The Korean Superboy" responded with furious combinations of his own. From there, Swanson would return in devastating fashion, landing wheel kicks and no-look jabs. Both chins held up incredibly.
Choi would make an interesting decision to take Swanson down after hurting him on the feet in Round 3, which allowed the veteran to regain his composure and score some points. Luckily for fight fans, the action resumed on the feet and both men unloaded more in an immediate Fight of the Year candidate. In the end, Swanson did enough over the course of 15 minutes to earn the unanimous decision victory.

With this win, Swanson moves right back into title contention entering 2017. Choi may not be the biggest name in the division, but he's clearly one of the toughest. This victory proves that Swanson still has it at the age of 33 and can fend off the hungriest youngsters the promotion has to offer.
