INCREDIBLE way for Lando Vannata to get his first win! #UFC206 https://t.co/VedB9ZxlV1
It didn't take long for Lando Vannata to build off of his memorable Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut opposite Tony Ferguson earlier this year when he absolutely slaughtered John Makdessi in front of his own crowd last night (Sat., Dec. 10, 2016) at UFC 206 live on Fight Pass from inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Vannata had lost to Ferguson back in July, but showed ample promise at just 24 years of age. He cashed it all in at UFC 206.
After Makdessi opened up with a few good jabs and found a home for some body punches, Vannata's shifty movements finally caught up with the veteran. "Groovy" threw a feeler kick to Makdessi's thigh and then followed it up with a perfectly-timed spinning wheel kick. The unorthodox technique landed flush, sent "The Bull" to the canvas and left Vannata with a finish comparable to that of Edson Barboza over Terry Etim.

With this win, Vannata should immediately jump into the mix at 155 pounds. He may need a few more victories to lock down his top 10 potential, but "Groovy" followed up a huge short notice debut opposite Ferguson with a quick finish over a guy in Makdessi who had only been knocked out by Donald Cerrone before this fight.
