TUF 24 Finale live stream results: 'Johnson vs Elliott' play-by-play updates

After 12 long weeks, season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) has finally wrapped, leaving us with the 125-pound championship showdown pitting flyweight titleholder Demetrious Johnson against TUF 24 finalist (and UFC veteran) Tim Elliot.

In addition, TUF 24 coaches — and former division No. 1 contenders — Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo will collide to see who stays alive in the rapidly dwindling 125-pound title chase.

The action takes place this Saturday night (Dec. 3, 2016) inside “The Pearl” at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, airing LIVE on FOX Sports 1 with select “Prelims” on UFC Fight Pass.

125 lbs.: UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson vs. Tim Elliott

Round 1: Elliott opens aggressively and Johnson takes him down. Johnson goes for an armbar in the ensuing scramble but Elliott winds up on top in half guard. One minute in. Johnson regains guard when Elliott postures up, then makes it back to his feet, where Elliott slaps on a guillotine. He uses it to sweep and transitions to a d’arce. Johnson gives the thumbs-up as Elliott puts his weight down. Johnson slips out, stands, and lands a head kick before hitting another takedown. Elliott gets to his knees to shoot and Johnson sprawls. Elliott still stuck in front headlock. Two minutes to go.

Elliott makes it up and lands an elbow and a left hand. He looks tired as Johnson lands two of a three-punch combo. Elliott plays possum and lands a combo as they trade. Elliott bangs away to the body as Johnson looks for knees from the plum. Elliott scores a brief knockdown with a left hook, then a single-leg when Johnson attacks. One minute to go. Half guard for Elliott. 10-9 Elliott.

Round 2: Elliott with his hands down as they trade kicks. Low kick and right hook by Johnson. Elliott waves him on. Overhand left from the challenger. One minute in. Combination from Elliott and Johnson scares a takedown. Elliott looking for a guillotine, gives up side control. Elliott gives up his back and Johnson nearly locks up a no-hooks RNC, but settles for side control. Johnson thumps Elliott’s head into the mat. Round 3: Elliott still coming, lands a straight-arm swing. Elliott wades in with punches and Johnson grabs the rear crucifix in the scramble. Elliott avoids a rear-naked and shoots, completing a single-leg. Johnson with the front headlock, avoids a sweep. Johnson stands, shoots, and Elliott hammers away with elbows and hammerfists as Johnson stays attached to a leg. Two minutes in. The champ completes the takedown into half guard. Short punches by Johnson. Two minutes to go.

Elliott regains guard and briefly tries a triangle. Elbows from his back. Side control for Johnson. Elliott with what looks like an inverted Pace choke, not tight. One minute to go. Johnson slips out and Elliott regains guard. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 4: Elliott having some fun in there, lands a rush. Nice shot from Johnson, passing to half guard. One minute in. Johnson circles form north-south to side control. Elliott giving up his back, scrambling. Nice move from Johnson to take out Elliott’s base and he locks up the rear-naked with a hook in. It’s palm-to-palm, but Elliott slips out and surrenders side control. Johnson pins an arm with his shin and drops punches. Two minutes to go.

Elliott gets his arm out, punching off his back. Johnson floating well, maintaining position and constantly looking to advance. One minute to go. Johnson locks up a Kimura and tries to transition to an armbar, but Elliott gets out, and threatens a single-leg before the bell. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 5: Elliott hopping forward, shuffling sideways, stuffs a shot anyway. Elliott shoots and puts Johnson on his back in half guard. Johnson tries to invert, then looks to shoots in, avoiding a guillotine in the process. One minute in. Elliott gets to his knees, Johnson in front headlock. Johnson scrambles to side control. Elliott with that awkward control again. Two minutes in. Elliott regains guard, eats an elbow as he swats away. Half guard for Johnson. Two minutes to go.

Johnson trying to isolate Elliott’s left arm. Elliott grabs a Kimura and tries to stand with it. They scramble and Johnson looks for a Hughes-GSP style armbar, but can’t get a grip on the hand. Johnson settles in half guard and tries to crank an arm until the bell. 10-9 Johnson.

125 lbs.: Joseph Benavidez vs. Henry Cejudo

Round 1: Early punching exchanges, solid blows from Benavidez. Hard left hook drops Benavidez, who pops back up and eats a knee. Body kick from Cejudo. One minute in. Joe B goes low-high, blocks a head kick and eats a groin kick. He doesn’t ake long to recover. Body kick by Cejudo again. Counter right. Low kicks from Benavidez. Rapid, aggressive exchanges, both men landing well. Two minutes in. Benavidez eats another groin shot and this time the referee takes a point. Not sure I agree with that. Joe B shrugs off a clinch, eats a body kick. Front kick by Benavidez as Cejudo throws hands. Overhand right from Joe. Clash of heads. Two minutes to go.

Benavidez lands a counter right and Cejudo hits a trip. Benavidez scrambles back up. Low kicks by Benavidez. Good knee. Head kick connects. One minute to go. Head kick by Cejudo in return and he’s sprawled on. Body kick lands for him. Cejudo catches a head kick and gets a brief takedown. Close round. 9-9.

Round 2: Cejudo comes out throwing. Body kick by Cejudo as Benavidez opens up. Head kick just misses for Joe B. 2-3 lands. One minute in. Southpaw 1-2 connects. Cejudo body kick. Benavidez wheel kick falls short, counters to the body do not. Cejudo just misses with a knee to the head. Both connect. Two minutes in. Cejudo sticks a right to the body. The volume is really favoring Benavidez this round. Good 1-2. Cejudo still pressing forward and throwing to the body. Beanvidez answers downstairs. Two minutes to go.

Cejudo connects with a tight right hand. Cejudo knocks Benavidez briefly off-balance. More coming from Cejudo now, not a lot landing clean. One minute to go. Hard teep from Cejudo. Benavidez isn’t doing as much in the later minutes. Good kicks by Cejudo. Still, I think Joe B did well enough early. 10-9 Benavidez.

Round 3: Benavidez slings a body kick. Good left hook from Cejudo and a body kick. Nice single-leg to trip from Cejudo, Benavidez stands and slips out. 2-3 from Benavidez. Good exchange. One minute in. Benavidez looks for a high knee. Lead right lands. Cejudo can’t complete a single-leg. They trade body punches. Good right on the exit by Cejudo, knee by Joe B. Two minutes in. Benavidez goes low-high. Body kick and left hooks by Cejudo, shoved off by a body kick. Two minutes to go.

Combo lands for Joe B. Heavy exchanges. Body kick from Cejudo. 2-3 by Benavidez. Cejudo briefly threatens a level change. Benavidez catches a body kick. Cejudo to the body. One minute to go. 170 lbs.: Jake Ellenberger vs. Jorge Masvidal

Round 1: Low kick from Masvidal to start. Inside low kik from Ellenberger. Masvidal catches a kick, eats lefts as he fires kicks. Nice punching exchange. One minute in. Masvidal going to the body. Nice combinations and Ellenberger looks hurt. Knees and furious punches from Masvidal as he crumbles.. Ellenberger tries to shoot, makes it back to his feet. Masvidal slamming home knees. He manages to separate. Two minutes in. Lead right lands for Ellenberger. Masvidal probing with his jab. He catches a body kick and lands a punch. two minutes to go.

Ellenberger looking gunshy, briefly ties up. Body kick and counter right from Masvidal after eating a counter. Wheel kick dings Ellenberger, who catches a body kick and rushes. Ellenberger gets his toes stuck in the fence as he rushes and folds up, trying to pull it out as Masvidal drops punches. Herb Dean steps in; not sure if this is a pause or a TKO win.

205 lbs.: Jared Cannonier vs. Ion Cutelaba

Round 1: Cutelaba walks all the way over to Cannonier’s corner during the introductions. Hardcore.

Hard leg kick from Cannonier to start, then a hard flurry from Cutelaba. Lead right connects for Cannonier. Low kick seems to hit groin, Cutelaba continues anyway. Canonier pops him with a right hand and goes to work with knees in the clinch. One minute in. Cutelaba whiffs on a spinning backfist, eats a 3-2 and lands a left hook. More knees by Cutelaba and Cannonier answers in kind. He’s pressing Cutelaba against the fence, but the Moldovan hits a hip throw into top position. Two minutes in. Cutelaba on top in guard, dropping hard right hands. He threatens a toe hold and drops another right hand. Cutelaba doing good work from top position. Two minutes to go.

Cannonier trying to do some striking off his back as more straight rights hit home for his opponent. Cannonier sweeps his way back to his feet. Jabs from Cannonier, nice throw from Cutelaba, who nearly takes mount before establishing half guard. One minute to go. Now standing over Cannonier again, comes down with right hands. Nice head kick by Cutelaba as Cannonier stands. 10-9 Cutelaba.

Round 2: Solid shots early from Cannonier. 1-2 lands for him. Body kick. Cutelaba hits a takedown and grabs the rear waistlock as Cannonier tries to stand. Cannonier grabs the fence, eats rights hands anyway. Cannonier makes it up and presses him against the cage. A scramble ensues and Cutelaba ends up on top, again standing over him and landing right hands as Cannonier looks for upkicks. This time Cannonier stands. They separate and now Cannonier’s landing some vicious punches. Two minutes in. Cutelaba hits a takedown into guard. Right hand lands. Two minutes to go.

Cannonier kicks him off and stands, pressing him against the fence. Cannonier goes for takedowns and ultimately wins the scramble to land in half guard. One minute to go. Solid ground-and-pound from Cannonier. 10-9 Cannonier.

Round 3: Cutelaba’s punches seem a bit labored. Hard body kick from Cannonier. Other side this time. Left hook by Cutelaba. Blast double from the Moldovan, can’t keep him down on the fence. One minute in. Right hand from Cannonier on the break. 1-2 by Cutelaba. Lead right by Cannonier. Right cross again as Cutelaba tries to flurry. Hard uppercut inside. Two minutes in. Cutelaba swinging wild. Good rights and kicks by Cannonier and a leaping uppercut. Sweeping right knocks Cutelaba back and a 1-2 lands behind it. Two minutes to go.

Cannonier lands a hard right and manages to deny a takedown, reversing position on the fence. Uppercut and right cross by Cannonier on the break. He’s marching forward with his hands at his waist. Cutelaba lands a left hook and backfist to no avail. Cannonier mocking him, hands wide. Sneaky uppercut lands for him. 10-9 Cannonier.

135 lbs.: Alexis Davis vs. Sara McMann

Round 1: Right hand early from McMann. To the body this time. Combination upstairs, counter right. Good flurry by the former Olympian. One minute in. Good takedown by McMann into full guard. Davis working towards a triangle, landing elbows off her back. More elbows from high guard by Davis. Two minutes in. McMann staying heavy, shutting down Davis’s hips. Two minutes to go.

Now McMann lands some ground-and-pound. One minute to go. Davis setting up a triangle in the final thirty seconds, lands elbows until the bell. 10-9 McMann.

Round 2: Low kick from McMann. Low kick and jab from Davis but McMann hits a nice throw. Davis looking for a leg. One minute in. McMann shuts down the leg attack. Two minutes in. Now McMann looking for the arm-triangle, still stuck in half guard. Davis slips out and manages to get to side control, putting on the squeeze until Davis goes taps.

Final result: McMann def. Davis by submission (arm-triangle choke)


125 lbs.: Ryan Benoit vs. Brandon Moreno

Round 1: Benoit on the front foot, avoids a jumping knee. Low kick from Moreno. Both men’s punches falling short thus far. Head kick from Benoit and Moreno blasts through for a double-leg. One minute in. Benoit scrambles up and avoids the next shot. Moreno to the body. Both connect with punches. Two minutes in. Another shot from Moreno. he gets Benoit down twice and grabs the rear waistlock when Benoit pops up the third time. Two minutes to go.

Benoit manages to separate. He eats a groin kick and they resume after a break. Hard right hand by Benoit as they exchange. One minute to go. Hard body kick by Benoit and he’s swinging heat. Left hook by Benoit. 10-9 Moreno.

Round 2: Benoit quickly puts Moreno against the fence and lands an elbwo before separating. Moreno waving Benoit on. Lead right lands for Moreno. One minute in. Check hook lands. Another counter hook connects after Benoit’s swings fall short. Moreno hook kick misses. Two minutes in. Counter left hook drops Moreno, who pops up before eating anything further. Another right hand dings him. Check hook, short right hand by Benoit. Moreno shoots and slams Benoit down. Two minutes to go.

Benoit trying to scoot to the fence as Moreno controls his wrist. One minute to go. Benoit makes it to his feet, gets slammed again. Half guard for Moreno. 10-9 Moreno.

Round 3: Both men try head kicks early. Right hook from Benoit and Moreno goes in for a single-leg. One minute in. Benoit defending against the cage. They separate and Moreno whiffs on a wheel kick. Straight right lands for him. Two minutes in. Benoit to the body. Lots of feinting by Moreno, who lands a right hand. Moreno slips on a flying knee and briefly has the rear waistlock. Left hook from the Mexican and a chopping right. Head kick lands with the foot. Two minutes to go.

Both land in an exchange. Good right from Benoit. Moreno goes high-low with lefts. One minute to go. Moreno shoots, Benoit blatantly grabs the fence to avoid it. They separate. Left hook by Benoit. Benoit marches after him until the bell, but eats a right hand. 10-9 Moreno.

145 lbs.: Ryan Hall vs. Gray Maynard

Round 1: Hall tossing out kicks, goes for an Imanari roll within seconds. No dice. Low kick from Maynard. The next roll falls way short. Side kick lands for him. One minute in. Maynard plodding forward, slips on a body kick. Side kick glances off Maynard’s face. Maynard chases, slinging right hooks, and Hall rolls into a leglock. Maynard slips out and a scramble ensues, after which he lets Hall up. Hall with a well-timed level change and they’re in an awkward spot. Maynard slips out and avoids a guard pull. Sharp right hook from Hall after a kick gets caught. Two minutes to go.

Body kick from Hall. Maynard, who’s bleeding from around the eye, avoids another roll. Maynard avoids yet another roll. One minute to go. Maynard complaining to the ref about flopping. I don’t even know. 10-9 Maynard, I suppose.

Round 2: Maynard lands a shifting right hook as Hall sprints away. Hook kick lands for Hall. Another flop. Hall throws a hook kick and flops. One minute in. Right hand from Maynard, flop. Again. Side kicks from Hall, failed Imanari roll. Hall ducks a right hand and rolls for a leg. Two minutes in. Another hook kick dings Maynard. Hall kicks and flops. Two minutes to go.

Maynard lands a head kick as Hall flops. More kicks from Hall, more flopping from Hall. Another failed roll. I legitimately do not know how to score this. One minute to go. Another failed roll. Hell if I know. 10-9 Maynard.

Round 3: Another failed roll. Maynard kicks at his legs and Hall scoots after him. Hall waves him on. Maynard flips him off and the ref waves them up. More hook kicks from Hall. Flop from Hall. Leg kicks from Maynard. One minute in. Maynard accidentally lands an illegal kick during the next roll and Hall complains. Two minutes in. Head kick from Hall, failed roll from Hall. More flopping. Two minutes to go.

Maynard with a right to the body after heating a hook kick. Illegal upkick by Hall when Maynard tries a hammerfist. Another flop from Hall. Maynard goes to the body, then follows Hall down into guard before waving him up. One minute to go. Jab from Hall. Another hook kick from Hall. I don’t even care. 10-9 Maynard.

Final result: Hall def. Maynard by unanimous decision


135 lbs.: Rob Font vs. Matt Schnell

Round 1: Schnell lands a low kick. Jab exchange. Jabs and low kicks from both men until Font hits a takedown. Schnell active off his back and closes his guard. Font looking for the back. One minute to go. Schnell scrambling as Font looks for a Kimura. Font drops the Kimura to take the back and lock up the body triangle. Two minutes in. Schnell manages to work his way to the feet and fire a combo. Quick hands by the flyweight. Font to the body, eats a right hand. Front kick rocks Schnell and Font pounces. Schnell survives. Two minutes to go.

Low kick from Schnell, who leans directly into a massive knee. He collapses and Font pounds away. He keeps punching until Schnell goes to sleep face-down.

Final result: Font def. Schnell by KO (knee and punches)


155 lbs.: Dong Hyun Kim vs. Brendan O'Reilly

Round 1: Low kick from Kim, O’Reilly answers in kind. Kim ties up on the fence. Dirty boxing from the Korean. O’Reilly circles out and shoots. Solid elbow by the Aussie. Kim reverses position and, when O’Reilly throws a knee, flings him down into side control. Two minutes in. O’Reilly regains half guard, Kim passes again. Kim steps over and looks for the back. Kim lands an illegal knee but the ref, oddly enough, does nothing. Two minutes to go.

Knees from Kim. Kim hits a trip and quickly takes the back. Both hooks in for “Maestro.” O’Reilly tries to spin into guard, gives up mount, then the back again. One minute to go. ‘Reilly regains guard and briefly tries an armbar before eating punches. 10-9 Kim.

Round 2: Kim hits an immediate takedown into guard. Short ground-and-pound as he passes to half guard. One minute in. Kim steadily passes to side control and lands a knee. Suddenly, O’Reilly hits a sweep and takes the back, only for Kim to roll into guard and go back to passing. Two minutes in. O’Reilly now threatening a Kimura. Two minutes to go.

Kim doesn’t look panicked and he passes to side control, then mount. O’Reilly giving up his back, but manages to stand and press Kim against the cage. Short knees. One minute to go. O’Reilly clocks him with an elbow that Kim doesn’t even acknowledge. Elbow, uppercut. O’Reilly keeps working in the clinch until the bell. 10-9 Kim.

Round 3: Lead left hook and spinning elbow form O’Reilly. Kim puts him against the fence. O’Reilly with a quick trip and reverses position. Kim reverses in turn and looks for a single-leg. One minute in. O’Reilly reverses and lands knees and elbows. Good elbows and now foot stomps. Two minutes in. More elbows and stomps. Kim ducks a spinning elbow and reverses. Two minutes to go.

The ref separates them. Low kicks from Kim, punches from O’Reilly. Kim clinches and takes him to the fence. Kim trips him down and looks for the back. One minute to go. Full mount now. O’Reilly sweeps into guard and Kim scoots to the fence. 10-9 O’Reilly.

Final result: Kim def. O’Reilly by unanimous decision


115 lbs.: Kailin Curran vs. Jamie Moyle

Round 1: Curran comes out aggressively and Moyle takes her down for it. Full guard for Moyle. One minute in. Curran kicks her away and lands a two-piece after standing. Each woman catches a kick from the other, but it’s Moyle taking Curran to the fence. Curran with a pair of Browne elbows as she defends. Knees to the head from Moyle. Two minutes in. Curran tries to separate, cannot do so. Body knee from Curran. Two minutes to go.

Curran sneaks her forearm under Moyle’s chin but can’t finish the choke, reversing position and exchanging at close range. Solid elbow. Good knee to the head by Moyle as she separates. Counter right lands for her. They’re trading punches. One minute to go. Moyle’s winning these exchanges at the moment. 1-2 from Curran and Moyle ties up. They end the round on the fence. 10-9 Moyle.

Round 2: Moyle sporting a serious bump from a clash of heads. More close-range exchanges. Curran eats a leg kick, lands one and Myole shoots in. Curran tries, cannot separate. One minute in. Curran looking for the rear bodylock. She can’t do so and they trade knees before returning to the center. Two minutes in. Low kick from Moyle. Moyle’s the crisper striker. Body kick lands. 1-2 by Curran. Moyle check hook. Two minutes to go.

Low kicks from Moyle, who ties up again. Moyle lifts her up and slams her down into half guard, now bleeding profusely from around that left eye. One minute to go. Moyle briefly threatens an arm triangle. Solid ground-and-pound before the bell. 10-9 Moyle.

Round 3: Curran still advancing. Good exchange, Moyle lands well and clinches. One minute in. Moyle goes hard for the takedown, denied. Moyle controlling the clinch and again puts Curran’s back on the fence. Moyle goes for a head-and-arm throw and Curran takes top position for the first time this fight. Two minutes in. Moyle sweeps her way up after a few shots and the ref pauses the fight after a questionable knee from Curran. They also take the time to look at Moyle’s cut. Curran wading in and they continue to trade. Two minutes to go.

Moyle grabs the Thai plum and Curran puts her on the fence. More knees from Moyle. Both land rights, Moyle comes back with a left hook. 3-2 by Moyle and a hook behind them. Curran still chugging along. Moyle ducks a right hand and puts her on her back in half guard. One minute to go. Moyle drops hard right hands until the bell. 10-9 Moyle.

Final result: Moyle def. Curran by unanimous decision


185 lbs.: Elvis Mutapcic vs. Anthony Smith

Round 1: Mutapcic advancing, both man kicking. Counter hook and hard low kick by Smith. Mutapcic lands a cut kick and takes top position. Solid punches by the Bosnian. One minute in. Smith trying to use butterfly guard, eating elbows. Smith turns for an armbar and Mutapcic slams his way out, then slips out of a kneebar. More elbows by Mutapcic. Smith trying to use butterfly hooks, then closes it. Two minutes in. Smith has his guard high. Mutapcic postures up and drops right hands. Smith trying to kick him away, still eating punishment. Two minutes to go.

Smith gets his back on the fence. Mutapcic pulls his base out from underneath him and fires more ground-and-pound. One minute to go. Smith looking for a guillotine, Mutapcic slips out. Mutapcic keeps up the attack until the bell. I’m gonna go 10-8 Mutapcic for one-sidedness.

Round 2: Clark opens with a front kick that just misses its target. Straight right from Stansbury, who stuffs a bad shot. Stansbury ties up on the fence after some punching exchanges. One minute in. Rear waistlock for Stansbury, Clark grabs the fence and eats a knee. Clark exits with a combo. Stansbury puts him on the fence again. Two minutes in. Stansbury loses the rear waistlock, continues to grind. Clark exits with an elbow, eats a pair of winging rights. Two minutes to go.

Stansbury exits with an uppercut and right cross. Body kick from Clark, check hook by Stansbury. Two minutes in. Clark body kick, right hand and left hook by Stansbury. Clark shoots, denied and put on the fence again. Clark reverses position. Two minutes to go.
