Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is shuffling its upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) line up, postponing the scheduled mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Jan. 21 in Anaheim, Calif., until August 2017.
The official reason, according to this report, is the lack of available headliners.
That means UFC 209, scheduled for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will now become UFC 208. No main event has been announced for that card yet; however, expect that to change over the coming weeks, if not days.
Today’s announcement is major victory for Bellator MMA. The Scott Coker-led promotion is bringing “Ortiz vs. Sonnen” on Spike TV to the outskirts of Los Angeles on Jan. 21 (details) and will no longer have live competition from its biggest rival.
Chalk this up to yet another win for “The Ruler.”
