Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will eventually retire from mixed martial arts (MMA) and pursue world titles in boxing and WWE.
Those were her words, not mine.
The former is probably off the table after her UFC 193 shellacking against ex-boxing champ Holly Holm, but the latter is a very real possibility, especially considering the relationship “Rowdy” has with WWE overlord Stephanie McMahon.
It’s a match made in hell (in the cell).
“That would be the goal to have women main event WrestleMania at some point in time,” McMahon told TMZ. “Whether that’s five years from now, 10 years from now, I think they’re gonna make it happen.”
Would that include Rousey?
“God, I certainly hope so, I gotta get her back,” she continued. “I’m certainly gonna try, I’ll just leave it at that.”
I guess there’s no hard feelings, despite this.
Rousey teased retirement earlier this week on the Ellen Degeneres show (watch it), but won’t be going anywhere until she first handles her business with current 135-pound champion Amanda Nunes.
They’ll do the deed at the UFC 207 pay-per-view (PPV) next month in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rousey’s next move after that may depend on the outcome, but it sounds like WWE may not be her first choice.
