Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has suffered an undisclosed injury and as a result, will no longer be able to defend his title against top contender Anthony Johnson.

MMA Fighting broke the bad news on Friday.

Johnson is expected to remain on the UFC 206 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card against an opponent to be named, which means the promotion needs to hustle. The event is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2016 inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Too bad this guy is sidelined until next year.

UFC 206 is no stranger to canceled fights. Earlier this week, Tim Kennedy was left without an opponent when former light heavyweight Rashad Evans was ruled medically unfit to compete.

More on that situation here.

This isn’t the first time Cormier has been pulled from a major PPV card due to injury. That could pave the way for another top contender in the 205-pound division, like the recently active Ryan Bader.

That’s up to these guys.
