Featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, was introduced first by ringside announcer Bruce Buffer because, of course, he was the challenger tonight (Sat., Nov. 12, 2016) in the main event of UFC 205, which took place inside Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., attempting to take the Lightweight title off Eddie Alvarez.
After a week of drama, both fighters agreed to touch gloves and we were off and running! McGregor started pawing a a jab, looking to land an overhand left, but Alvarez chopped him down with a low kick. McGregor reached out like he was trying to grab Alvarez's left hand, but then dropped him with a double left hand, which is typical in most of his fights, but none of this stature. Alvarez recovered well and fell down as he was looking to land a right hand. It was McGregor, though, who once again dropped Alvarez with a shot along the cage. McGregor stacked him as Alvarez fished for a leg lock submission and he eventually got back to his feet, but McGregor blasted him with another hard shot on the exit.
McGregor switches stances, looking to find a home for something -- anything -- but it's McGregor who is doing all the damage at the moment. McGregor, seemingly not in a rush, is content to head back to his corner with three knockdowns in his back pocket.
