In the first title fight last night (Sat., Nov. 12, 2016) at UFC 205 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden in New York City, N.Y., women's strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk looked to defend her title for the fourth-straight time against fellow Polish striker Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Both women came into the high-profile bout with perfect records, but one of their resumes left the Octagon sullied.
While Kowalkiewicz stood strong on her strength and durability, Jedrzejczyk was simply too tactical through the first three rounds. She ended combinations with an outside leg kick and launched spinning back fists that kept the challenger at bay. But in Round 4, Kowalkiewicz caught the champ flush with a right hand between the eyes. Jedrzejczyk stumbled backwards and reverted to defending before regaining her composure with a takedown and scoring points on the feet as the round ended. The champion used that momentum to impose her will in the final frame and lock down another successful title defense, this one by unanimous decision.

With this win, Jedrzejczyk further pads her already pristine mixed martial arts (MMA) career. She landed a total of 258 significant strikes in her victory over Kowalkiewicz and will continue to reek havoc entering the new year.
