Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson put a ribbon on a memorable night of fights at last night's (Sat., Oct. 8, 2016) UFC 204 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Manchester England in a title fight that had everyone buzzing (see it again here).
UFC President Dana White was among the many who was impressed with the performances both combatants put forth, as he spoke to UFC on FOX Sports after the fight to give his take:
"I had it even going into the last round, and I had Bisping winning the last round. Dan Henderson, I tweeted during the fight that he is built out of leather and rock, man. The guy is so durable, so tough and was in the fight the whole time. I never pictured that thing being a competitive five-round fight. I though Henderson might catch him early, like he did, or Bisping would pick him apart and be too fast for him. It was a damn good fight. At (Dan Henderson's) age, what is he 46? I'm 47 and I can barely get on a treadmill in the morning, much less fight five-round main events in another country. Dan Henderson is an absolute warrior and one of the best to ever do it and he is still scary at this age and everything. And if he didn't want to retire today, he's still scary for people in that division."
The win marked his fifth straight and his first-ever title defense. With the loss, Henderson doesn't ride off into the sunset with the only belt that's ever alluded him, but he can ride with his head high knowing he gave it everything he had.
