Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a blockbuster championship doubleheader on tap for its upcoming UFC 197 pay-per-view (PPV) event, as Conor McGregor will move up to lightweight to challenge Rafael dos Anjos, while women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm collides with Miesha Tate.
UFC 197 goes down on March 5, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Jeremy Botter.
Great news for mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, bad news for Frankie Edgar, who expected to lose his featherweight title shot when McGregor first teased a jump up to the heavier weight class. It will be interesting to see if "The Answer" takes another fight, or rides the pine until "Notorious" comes back to 145 pounds.
As for Holm, she is no longer being coerced into an immediate rematch against Ronda Rousey after capturing the crown back in November. In addition, a March 5 title fight makes good on Tate's request to get another crack at the 135-pound title after winning four straight.
See you in "Sin City."
