Top-ranked (unsigned and undefeated) UFC Bantamweight Aljamain Sterling reacts to Sage Northcutt loss

While 19-year-old "Super" Sage Northcutt was busy earning $40,000 to show in his second main card appearance at UFC on FOX 18 in Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center, one veteran was keenly watching cageside.

Fifth-ranked bantamweight Aljamain Sterling is currently stalled in negotiations to re-sign with UFC. The undefeated (12-0) prospect is a perfect 4-0 with three finishes in UFC and in December he told that he would be seeking a "huge" pay bump from his last fight of $14,000 to show.

Sterling is reportedly seeking above Northcutt's payout, however UFC has already told the fighter he's free to pursue options in other organizations.

That hasn't stopped the Long Island, New York native from continuing to call out fellow bantamweight fighters or attend UFC events like tonight's (Sat., Jan. 30, 2016) "UFC New Jersey" fights to see how the higher-earning Northcutt would perform.

Here were his reactions on social media when the 19-year-old finally suffered his first career MMA loss.

"Funk Master" was active on Twitter all night long, tweeting his cageside reactions to not just what was happening inside the cage but potential UFC fights in his own weight division.

When Jimmie Rivera called out Sterling in his post-fight interview after getting the nod over Iuri Alcantara, the Serra-Longo fighter seemed very much like a man who wants to stay and prove himself inside the world's elite mixed martial arts organization:

It wasn't just on social media that Sterling made his presence known during UFC on FOX 18. The flashy dresser best known for wearing gigantic gold chains around his neck was getting fans cageside as well:

Despite Sterling's high UFC ranking, there are fighters who would gladly take his place and his lowly $14,000 pay check. Rob Font recently told Bloody Elbow that Sterling "screwed himself" and now he's sitting out.

Are you hoping to see Funk Master back in those ugly Reebok shorts soon?
