Top 10-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight contenders, Ben Rothwell (No. 7) and Josh Barnett (No. 8), tonight (Sat., Jan. 30, 2016) collided in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 18, which took place inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
And, once again -- against all odds -- Rothwell proved his numerous doubters wrong ... and then some. Indeed, "Big Ben" scored a submission victory over one of the more savvy Brazilian jiu-jitsu players in the division, snatching the neck of "Warmaster" along the fence in round two, squeezing like a vice as he fell to the ground and, shortly thereafter, prompting a rare tap from the former Heavyweight champion.
Unreal.
In fact, in 41 professional mixed martial arts (MMA) matches, no man has ever submitted Barnett. It's a huge, huge accomplishment for Rothwell, who has now won four straight bouts and five of his last six appearances. He has never looked better. And tonight, he put the rest of the division on notice.
He's a legit threat.
