When you're never in a boring fight, they don't call you Mike Tyson or Muhammed Ali, they call you Evander Holyfield.
At least, that's according to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who said Robbie Lawler is the company's "Real Deal" following his memorable five-round Welterweight title fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 195 (see it again here) last night (Jan. 2, 2016).
His words during the post-fight presser (via MMA Fighting):
"[Lawler]'s our Evander Holyfield man, right?. It's just like he's never in a boring fight. He's always, when he gets hurt he continues to go toe-to-toe. Robbie reminds me...he's our Evander Holyfield. He really is. And I respect so much when, you're in a fight like this and you have to come out, you have to come out in that fifth round and do what Robbie did. And he did it. Great fight."
You dig the comparison?
After 25 minutes of intense action, "Ruthless" did just enough to retain his title against a very game "Natural Born Killer."
Now, Lawler will look to keep it going, as there are a bevy of contenders lined up for their crack at the division title, including American Top Team (ATT) comrade, Tyron Woodley, who seems to be the front-runner in the title race.
