Chael Sonnen renews contract as fight analyst with ESPN, will cover 11 UFC events

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Chael Sonnen may not be returning to the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), but the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion will be returning as an analyst for ESPN.

That's according to Jeremy Botter, who revealed a few days ago that "The American Gangster" has re-upped his deal with the world wide leader in sports.

Sonnen's manager got fight fans a bit excited when he stated that he was confident his client would be making a return to the cage once his suspension was complete. Chael, though, put ice on those flames as he confirmed his fighting days were done once and for all.

Sonnen has been with ESPN since he decided to retire from active competition in 2014.

Aside from his duties with the sports news network, Chael also serves as part of the broadcast team for World Series of Fighting (WSOF). When you see just how full his plate is, it's no wonder the one-time mouth of the Octagon has decide to hang up his gloves for good.
