UFC Fight Night 81 results: Real-time play-by-play updates for 'Dillashaw vs Cruz' Fight Pass undercard

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosts an exciting UFC Fight Night 81 mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside TD Garden in Boston, Mass., tonight (Sun., Jan. 17, 2016), featuring a Bantamweight title collision pitting champion T.J. Dillashaw against bitter rival Dominick Cruz.

The pair of talented strikers went blow-for-blow in the public eye for the better part of the last three months and will finally put the gloves on to see whose bark matches their bite.

In the co-main event, Lightweight elites battle it out for a chance to move into serious title shot discussions when former champion Anthony Pettis takes on Philadelphia slugger Eddie Alvarez. Elsewhere on the FOX Sports 1-televised main card is an action-packed Heavyweight tilt between Top-15 contenders Travis Browne and Matt Mitrione.

However, before we can get to the evening's main courses, fans will be treated to a set of nine "Prelims" exchanges, beginning at 6 p.m. ET on the Fight Pass digital streaming service, until the final four are broadcast on FOX Sports 1 starting at 8 p.m. ET. The four-fight main card will start promptly at 10 p.m. ET.

Below are the results recaps for the five Fight Pass "Prelims" bouts:

Paul Felder vs. Daron Cruickshank

Two striking standouts aimed to put on a show for the Boston faithful in attendance as Felder went for the much-needed win over Cruickshank.

Felder advancing so far. Expect wild, unpredictable things. Cruickshank composed.A bit of a feeling out process currently in play. "The Detroit Superstar" with a sidekick. Felder goes to the body with a punch. Big right hand for Cruickshank as Felder tags him. We're in the clinch with half the round gone. Battle for position ensues, Cruickshank turns him around. The 30-year-old is deep on a double-leg briefly. Good knees to the leg by Cruickshank. Felder explodes for a guillotine and it's deep, but Cruickshank shakes him off. He's on top now. Felder up with 60 seconds to go. Elbow from Felder in the clinch. A knee from Felder. Spinning back kick from Cruickshank. Felder with the takedown, gets reversed from Cruickshank. He's in full guard now. Felder throws up his legs in an effort to attain a submission, but the round ends. 10-9 Cruickshank

Front kick up the middle for Felder. Side kick to the body for Cruickshank, who throws another kick to the body of "The Irish Dragon." Cruickshank in on the takedown. Nice sprawl by Felder at the 3:30 mark. Cruickshank on his back. Felder can move into half guard if he wants to. He does. Short shots, but nothing big for Felder. Cruickshank lands a spinning back fist as he gets back to his feet as both men unleash furious shots. Both men standing in front of each other. Cruickshank settles down and looks for the takedown. Felder now searching for a triangle choke from I guess what you would call, north-south back mount? The 30-year-old Cruickshank has enough space to breathe. Felder just holding onto this position now with 30 seconds left. Cruickshank looking to reverse position. Both men back on their feet. Cruickshank slams Felder as the latter looks to lock up a guillotine choke. Round over. 10-9 Felder

Hard leg kick from Felder, who barrels into the clinch. Good elbow from Felder. Nice knee from Cruickshank. Very nice elbow again from Felder. Cruickshank drops down for the takedown, but Felder defends. The Taekwondo specialist pours it on with short shots, but Cruickshank gets back to his feet. Felder straddling his back. Felder gets the takedown. Despite Cruickshank landing the more severe blows, Felder coming through when it matters and it's smart not to play into a slugfest. Felder moves to his back. He cinches up the rear-naked choke with about a minute left in the bout.

Felder scores the first submission win of his professional career, while Cruickshank drops his third-straight fight.

Result: Felder via third-round submission (rear-naked choke)

Charles Rosa vs. Kyle Bochniak

The submission ace Rosa aimed to turn back the debuting Bochniak in a battle of Massachusetts natives.

Rosa keeping Bochniak guessing, switching his stance. Many front-leg side kicks coming. Rosa got countered throwing a body kick, and is stunned momentarily. Bochniak targeting the legs of the american Top Team fighter. Good straight left from Rosa. He needs to be careful throwing that left body kick. Hard body kick from "Boston Strong."  A right hand sneaks through for Bochniak. Another huge body kick for Rosa. Bochniak tags Rosa with a right hand and jumps on top. Rosa scrambles for a leg lock and Bochniak stands up. Bochniak connects with a right body kick. Some swelling around the right eye of Bochniak. Rosa applying the pressure more, but it's clear Bochniak can throw some heat. He needs to be a bit more active to threaten and disrupt Rosa's timing. Rosa connects with a leg kick. Bochniak wins the round barely. Bochniak 10-9

Rosa keeps targeting the legs of Bochniak. An inside leg kick connects for Bochniak, who's looking to work his way into striking range. Rosa unleashing his entire repertoire here. He shoots for a takedown, but it's stuffed. Rosa catches a kick. Rosa lands a body kick. A knee scores for "Killer B." The 29-year-old Rosa is deep on a double-leg attempt. He grounds Bochniak. Rosa postures up and rains down punches. Back to the feet with 30 seconds. Bochniak changes levels nicely for a takedown, but he can't keep Rosa there. 10-9 Rosa

Rosa opens up with a hard leg kick. The Florida-based combatant scores with a nice flurry. Bochniak eats a right hand as he circles out of striking range. Big leg kick for Rosa. More punches in this round than in any other so far from Rosa. He's got to be careful. Bochniak's left leg is hurt. Solid right hand for Bochniak, as Rosa rumbles in for the takedown. Big right and a knee from Bochniak. Rosa is backed up. Rosa coming back now with punches. He drops for the takedown as Bochniak defends. Bochniak shoots for the takedown, but is denied. He connects with a right afterwards. Bochniak's face is a mess. He goes for another takedown as Rosa takes his neck, looking to bring the fight to the ground. They break free with 20 seconds left. Rosa goes for a spinning heel kick as their war ends. 10-9 Rosa

Rosa moves his UFC record to 2-2, while Bochniak drops to 6-1.

Result: Rosa via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Illir Latifi vs. Sean O'Connell

The heavy-handed Swede Latifi looked to start a new win streak in UFC at the expense of the surging O'Connell.

O'Connell takes the center of the cage and backs up Latifi. He wades in, standing in front of him and gets clobbered by an overhand right for the quick stoppage.

Result: Latifi via first-round knockout

Rob Font vs. Joey Gomez

The Boston native Font put his 10-fight win streak on the line against his former training partner Gomez.

Front kick from Font early. He continues to open up with a leg kick. Gomez returns with a left. The New Hampshire-based Gomez trying to find his way inside. Gomez coming up short with his punches. Font lands another front kick to the body. The 28-year-old moves in for takedown, but Gomez scrambles nicely. Gomez defends another takedown along the fence. An uppercut and left hand score nicely for Font. Gomez connects with a left hand. Hard elbows from Gomez after Font rumbles in for ta takedown. The action is picking up. We're right back up. Clinch battle with 60 seconds to go. Blood coming from the right eye of Gomez, who lands a jab. Spinning back elbow from Font. 10-9 Font

Font staying out of range of Gomez strikes. He's more comfortable in the Octagon it appears. Diffrent kicking techniques coming from Font. Nice inside leg kick from Gomez. Side kick after a missed leg kick attempt from Font. More front kicks. Gomez still swinging, but he's coming up short every time. Nice roundkick from Gomez. Font tags "The KO King" with a left. Huge left hand cracks Gomez and he's sent back reeling. Gomez scores the much-needed takedown as Font closed in. Font eats a knee and we're on the feet. Huge elbow, followed by a clean left hook spells the end of Gomez's night.

Font scores his fourth-straight finish overall. Gomez sees his undefeated record shattered.

Result: Font via second-round knockout

Francimar Barroso vs. Elvis Mutapcic

Nova Uniao's Barroso kicked off the evening looking to turn back Mutapcic in the latter's Octagon debut.

Barroso out in a hurry, lands a good right. Mutapcic opens with front and high kicks. Barroso switches to southpaw, lands a body kick.Another sound body kick. "Bodao" goes back to southpaw. So far, "The King" staying patient, while the Brazilian throws power. Nice takedown from Barroso. Elbows coming from the bottom for Mutapcic. The Iowa native proving he's no slouch on the ground. Barroso, though, having come from the Nova Uniao camp is likely a notch or two above him. Mutapcic doing a solid job of not letting him posture up. Pretty good wrist control. One minute left and it's been roughly 90 seconds of top position time. Mutapcic looks to explode, but Barroso stays low. Barroso stands up and as we conclude round one. 10-9 Barroso

Big overhand right from Barroso, almost gets counter by a combo.Very hard kick landed by the 35-year-old Barroso. He would do best not to overcommit, or wing his shots. Commentator Mike Goldberg reminds viewers that strikes are even just over five minutes in. Barroso goes for the single, Mutapcic there to defend. Barroso goes for the big right hand again. Mutapcic should pressure and put a combo together instead of letting Barroso pick him apart. Nice left hand from Barroso knocks out Mutapcic's mouthpiece. Solid leg kick from Barroso. Barroso gets tagged by Mutapcic. A level change and takedown attempt is denied by the 29-year-old Mutapcic. Some blood exiting the right eye of the Bosnian. Barroso clips him with a right. Deep shot from Barroso but nothing there. 10-9 Barroso

Barroso misses on a takedown to begin the final round. Very good inside leg kick-left hand combo. Mutapcic goes with a lead uppercut and it scores. Good jab and left from Barroso. Very good takedown defense on display from Mutapcic. Another mouthpiece episode. It's back in and we're good to go. The story of this fight is that Barroso has been able to dictate the pace and range. A left startles Barroso, but Mutapcic unable to pounce. Lazy takedown attempt from Barroso. Mutapcic turning it up now, has Barroso backing up. Solid body shot. Nice straight right from Barroso. A body kick and right hand score once more. Barroso catches a kick and we're in the clinch. Half a minute to go. Nice knee and right hand on the break as Mutapcic seals the round with a flurry. 10-9 Barroso

Barroso runs his UFC record up to 3-1, while Mutapcic falls to 15-4 overall.

Result: Barroso via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
