Mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Fedor Emelianenko returned with a vengeance to the heavyweight division of a sport he ran roughshod over for close to a decade.
"The Last Emperor" took out former K-1 kickboxer, Jaideep Singh, with an onslaught of ground and pound three minutes into their Rizin Fighting Federation (RFF) main event spot on New Year's Eve (Thurs., Dec. 31, 2015) in Saitama, Japan. It was the Russian's fourth consecutive victory and first since June 2012.

"The next fight is scheduled for April. In my opinion, it will be here in Japan, in cooperation with the company Rizin. Just know that the company is planning a tournament next August and is in talks with Bellator and other organizations. There is another chance of a joint project. For me it would be convenient to enter the ring in April -- four months to relax a bit and with new team before preparing for the next battle."
After initial reports pegged the ex-Sambo champion's contract with the Nobuyuki Sakakibara-led promotion to be a two-fight deal, sources close to Emelianenko believe that his contract is of the one-fight variety, with a tentative agreement for a second tilt in place.
There has been no announcement, or inkling, as to who Emelianenko's next foe might be, but we'll be sure to bring that information to you once it's released. Perhaps this guy?
