UFC 191 injuries and medical suspensions: Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovski facing six-month sits

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, it's time to find out who's worse for the wear following the carnage at UFC 191 this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) issued its list of injuries and medical suspensions on Tuesday for the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who participated in UFC 191, which took place last Saturday night (Sept. 5, 2015) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

And there were a few hefty sentences.

Chief among them are UFC 191 co-headliners Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovski. Despite the relatively slow pace of their heavyweight mash-up (watch it), both competitors took their fair share of damage and could be sidelined until next March unless cleared by their physicians.

That's not all.

Here is the full list of UFC 191 injuries and medical suspensions:

John Dodson: Suspended until Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (nose laceration).
Andrei Arlovski: Suspended until March 5 pending X-ray (right hand). Minimum suspension Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (left eyelid laceration).
Frank Mir: Suspended until March 5 pending doctor's clearance (right hand). Minimum suspension Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (eyebrow laceration).
Jimi Manuwa: Suspended until Oct. 21, no contact until Oct. 6 (precautionary reasons).
Corey Anderson: No contest until March 5 pending dentist's clearance (loose teeth).
Jan Blachowicz: Suspended until Oct. 21, no contact until Oct. 6 (precautionary reasons).
Alex Chambers: No contest until March 5 pending MRI of left knee (ACL).
Francisco Rivera: Suspended until Oct. 21, no contact until Oct. 6 (precautionary reasons).
Jessica Andrade: Suspended until Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (precautionary reasons).
Clay Collard: Suspended until Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (precautionary reasons).
Joe Riggs: Suspended until cleared by CT scan of face/orbital bone, in addition to clearance by ear/nose/throat or maxillofacial surgeon. Minimum suspension until Oct. 21, no contact until Oct. 6.
Ron Stallings: Suspended until Oct. 6, no contact until Sept. 27 (facial lacerations).
Nazareno Malegarie: Suspended until March 5 pending clearance by orbital CT scan, in addition to clearance from ear/nose/throat doctor. Minimum suspension until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6 (facial lacerations).
Joaquin Silva: Suspended until March 5 pending clearance by orbital CT scan, in addition to clearance from ear/nose/throat doctor. Minimum suspension until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
