Bellator 142 results: Liam McGeary knew it was over once Tito Ortiz stepped into his jiu-jitsu world

Bellator MMA

Tito Ortiz won the first four minutes and 40 seconds of last night's (Sat. Sept. 19, 2015) Light Heavyweight title fight against Liam McGeary at Bellator 142: 'Dynamite 1' in San Jose, California.

Unfortunately for "The People's Champion," McGeary won the seconds that counted most, as the 205-pound champion locked in an inverted traingle choke that forced Tito to tap out with only 20 seconds remaining in the opening round.

Full highlights here.

And it's all because Tito decided to enter Liam's jiu-jitsu world, which as the British banger recently told Sherdog, just so happens to be his specialty.

"I expected we was going to go down on the ground, you know? But, I did manage to stuff one of his shots. I still got to work on my wrestling, but, I am getting there, I'm getting there. I expected it to go down to the ground, I expected him to stick his head in my chest, you know? But I didn't expect him to try and grab a hold of my arms. I was just trying to work it, we had five rounds. I knew I had the gas to go five rounds, I don't know about him. But, I knew once we were on the ground, that's my world. I fucking love jiu-jitsu. Once I start getting my wrestling  as good as my jiu-jitsu, keep on my feet, man it's going to be a lot more knockouts."

The win marked Liam's first title defense since winning the strap after defeating Emanuel Newton over seven months ago. He'll now face Phil Davis in his next title defense.

As for Tito, the loss snapped his two-fight win streak and could have possibly marked the final time he competes for an MMA title.
