Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez is about to get her moment in the "Dynamite 1" spotlight.
Bellator MMA announced that the wife of Gilbert Melendez signed with the promotion in July. The promotion touted her excellent amateur kickboxing and professional kickboxing record (4-1 and 2-1, respectively) in combat sports.
The timing is interesting given that she debuts at the combined GLORY and Bellator MMA event at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 19, 2015, and will compete in a kickboxing -- not a mixed martial arts (MMA) -- match first.
Indeed, Taylor-Melendez will make her appearance fighting in the GLORY ring instead of the Bellator cage in a 120-pound bout against Hadley "Relentless" Griffith, who will make her professional kickboxing debut.
If Griffith's name rings a bell, some fight fans may remember that she's a five-fight combat sports veteran, including one recent bout where a freak accident caused the top of her middle finger to be amputated.
She comes by the name "Relentless" the hard way.
