Bellator MMA and GLORY kickboxing are teaming up tonight (Sat., Sept. 19, 2015) for Bellator: 142: "Dynamite 1" for a blockbuster event at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., which will feature bouts in both mixed martial arts (MMA) and kickboxing.
Every fighter made weight on Friday, making several feature fights in Bellator and GLORY kickboxing official.
The Spike TV main card will have three kickboxing matches including the first women's fight GLORY history with Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez (wife of Gilbert Melendez) and Hadley Griffith.
Paul "Semtex" Daley will leave MMA for one night to focus on landing bombs in the ring against Fernando Gonzalez, a 24-13 mixed martial artist and former WBC National Muay Thai cruiserweight champion making his GLORY debut.
Meanwhile, 29-3 kickboxer Saulo Cavalari will contest for the vacant Light Heavyweight GLORY belt against Zack Mwekassa, who owns 14 of his 15 wins via violent stoppage.
On the MMA portion of the event, the Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament will see former UFC fighter Phil Davis (13-3) take on Emanuel Newton (25-8-1), while Linton Vassell (15-4) will try and dethrone Muhammed Lawal's (15-4) title aspirations. Newly acquired Josh Thomson will take on Mike Bronzoulis in a lightweight bout.
The main event is, of course, for the Bellator Light Heavyweight strap between incumbent champ Liam McGeary (10-0) and the original king of trash talk, Tito Ortiz (18-11-1).
