Most fighters go down in weight after a tough loss. Ed Herman, however, is moving up.
"Short Fuse" will reportedly jump to light heavyweight to meet fellow mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Tim Boetsch at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 81 card on Jan. 17, 2016, inside TD Garden in Boston, Mass., which airs on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
MMA NYTT first reported the pairing on Thursday.
Like his opponent, "The Barbarian" (18-9) is no stranger to the middleweight division, but hasn't had much luck in recent fights. In fact, Boetsch is just 2-7 dating back to 2012 and has been finished four times. Herman (22-11, 1 NC) has alternated wins and losses since his "no contest" against Jake Shields at UFC 150.
At least they'll have an easy weight cut!
UFC Fight Night 81 is headlined by the bantamweight championship title fight pitting TJ Dillashaw opposite Dominick Cruz. In the lightweight co-main event, former champions Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez bang it out for a spot in the 155-pound title hunt.
