Ben Askren vs Luis Santos rematch set for ONE: 'Pride of Lions' in Singapore

ONE

Ben Askren and Luis Santos are set to meet for the second time on Nov. 13, 2015. Their rematch headlines the ONE: "Pride of Lions" mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the American's welterweight title will once again be on the line.

The first time they fought was last April in Manila. Santos surpassed expectations in the early exchanges by repeatedly stuffing the takedowns of the two-time NCAA Division-1 champion. An upset seemed to be on the cards, but an inadvertent eye poke by Askren led to the fight being waved off just 2:19 into the opening round.

Askren (14-0-0-1) remains undefeated but it was the first time he has experienced anything other than victory in an MMA fight. After the bout, he accused Santos of "playing up" the injury -- while the Brazilian was upset with the champion for behaving in an "unprofessional manner" while he was receiving medical treatment.

Despite sharing the cage with him for less than three minutes, Santos (61-9-1-1) did more than any of Askren's recent opponents to undermine the champion's aura of invincibility. The Brazilian is a striking specialist with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and many feel he has the tools to become the first man to defeat the two-time MMA champion and wrestling Olympian.
