If you thought the decision by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to suspend Nick Diaz for five years and fine him $165,000 was nothing more than a power trip, which came in the wake of a failed drug test for marijuana at UFC 183, now is your chance to do something about it.
One loyal fight fan recently started a White House petition to have the ban lifted in order to allow the Stockton slugger to make a living.
You know, because that's the thing to do these days.
Nick Diaz was unfairly banned from being a professional fighter by the Nevada Athletic Commission. They ruled based on their personal feelings and beliefs towards the use of medical Marijuana and used their power to deprive Mr.Diaz of being able to make a living.
The goal is to get 100,000 signatures by October 14, 2015. As of this moment, a total of 8,143 signatures have been collected.
Of course, Nick's legal team has already put the wheels in motion to appeals the NSAC decision. If it stands, Diaz -- who lashed out at the commission full of "dorks" shortly after his hearing -- will not be able to fight inside the Octagon until the age of 36.
That's a long time without a paycheck.
One thing Team Diaz has going for them is that the suspension doesn't exactly line up with the NSAC's recently-adjusted penalties, which states that a third offense for marijuana carries with it a suspension of three years.
