Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight standout Chael Sonnen claimed he was fighting UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett at the next Metamoris submission grappling tournament (details), and even promised to hold him down for 20 minutes.
That's news to "The Warmaster."
"There's no contract, nothing has been signed on my end," Barnett told Jon Anik and Kenny Florian (via MMA Fighting). "I couldn't think of a worse thing than to be anywhere with Chael Sonnen for 20 minutes. I would be embarrassed to let it go that long, to be perfectly honest."
"It wouldn't be a match," he continued. "Maybe I'll lock him up in a few different things and let him go. Just keep going and give him a free private lesson that he got paid for."
Barnett isn't going anywhere until he first deals with fellow heavyweight hurter Roy Nelson in the UFC Fight Night 75 main event on Sept. 27, 2015 (Sept. 26 in the United States), which airs live on FOX Sports 1 inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan (full fight card here).
That said, is "Sonnen vs. Barnett" a grappling match that you, as a fan, would even be interested in seeing?
