WSOF 23 fight card sustains last-minute fight week shake up because of injuries

Lucas Noonan/WSOF

Injuries have forced a few last-minute changes to World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 23 "Gaethje vs. Palomino 2," which takes place this Friday night (Sept. 18, 2015) inside Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

In particular, Isaac Vallie-Flagg (15-7-1) and Kelvin Tiller (7-1) will no longer compete on the "Prelims" undercard that will stream online via WSOF.com because of injuries sustained in training.

That's bad news, considering Flagg and Tiller were two of the most experienced fighters on the undercard; however, the good news is that the promotion has already plugged in replacements.

Flagg, who was scheduled  to battle Estevan Payan (16-8) at Lightweight, was forced to bow out with an elbow injury. Stepping in on short notice is Kamuela Kirk (4-1), who has no previous WSOF experience but earned a technical knockout victory in his last fight this July.

The precise injury to Tiller was not revealed. He was originally scheduled for a Middleweight bout with the undefeated Russian prospect Vagab Vagabov (19-0), but Brian Grinnell (8-6) will now have that honor.
