Ronda Rousey wins animal contest, lends name to Brazilian Llama

Is your mama a llama? No, but my Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion is.

Ronda Rousey is not just a female mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. She's also a llama at the Portobello Resort and Safari in Brazil, thanks to a recent animal-naming contest that saw "Rowdy" beat out the likes of local soap opera stars, among others.

Yes, really.

"Usually when an animal is born at the Portobello safari, an animal which has a slightly longer gestation, we select the two most talked names in that period as a tribute," a Portobello official told MMAFighting.com. "In this case, Ronda was the name chosen by guests."

Rousey was doing work in Brazil back in August, beating the snot out of Bethe Correia at UFC 190.

The newly-hired bouncer of the Double Deuce will next fight Holly Holm at the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) event in November (more on that here). Not telling if any baby kangaroos will be lucky enough to win her moniker, but we'll be sure to send a team of investigative journalists to break the story.

Stay tuned.
