Invicta FC 14: "Evinger vs. Kianzad " takes place TONIGHT (Sat., Sept. 12, 2015) from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., featuring a five-round bantamweight showdown between women's division champion Tonya "Triple Threat" Evinger and challenger Pannie "Sexy Scramble" Kianzad. The fight was changed to a non-title bout after Kianzad missed weight.

INVICTA FC 14 UFC FIGHT PASS MAIN CARD PLAY-BY-PLAY:
Catchweight 5-round non-title 135-pound fight (Kianzad missed weight): Tonya Evinger (16-5) vs. Pannie Kianzad (8-0)
Round 1: Kianzad comes out and Evinger immediately clinches into a body lock and gets her up against the cage. She briefly gets Kianzad down and grabs an over/under position. Evinger with a hip throw and now the two are in north-south position. Evginger hammers on Kianzad and her mouthpiece pops out. Now she takes her back with 2:30 left in the round and Kianzad will have to fight off the rearnaked choke. Evinger has a grip on that is tearing away Kianzad's half shirt which makes it dangerously close to a wardrobe malfunction. Evinger working for an armbar with 40 seconds left. Switching it to a kimura but Kianzad survives. 10-8 Evinger.
Round 2: Kianzad comes out into a straight right and falls on her back in the first few seconds. Evinger jumps on top and takes her back again. Kianzad tries to scramble but Evinger has suffocating top control. Evinger moves into side control with 3:30 left and this is a real beating tonight. Kianzad appears to have a hematoma on her forehead already. Evinger with elbows to the stomach and thighs from top control. Evinger back into full mount with 2 minutes left and Kianzad is just taking a full on beating. This has absolutely zero competitive value. Evinger battering her mercilessly. It's over.

Catchweight 3-round non-title 115-pound fight (Bennett missed weight): Katja Kankaanpaa (10-2-1) vs. DeAnna Bennett (7-0)
Round 1: Bennett trying low kick high punch combinations early on. Katja looking for the left hook at Bennett dips her head. Bennett with some good speed early on, landing and getting out quickly. Katja tries to corner Bennett and the two clinch against the cage with 2:30 left in the first. The two break and Bennett just misses a front head kick. Katja with a nice kick to the body, blocked. Katja wades in with punches and Bennett grabs a neck and jumps to her back with a tight guillotine but it's no good. Katja jumps on her back looking for back mount but Bennette fouls it and works a single leg to top control but Katja rolls her with a kimura. 10-9 Bennett.
Round 2: Katja comes out aggressively again in the second, forcing Bennett to drop levels but the takedown isn't there. Bennet with a nice right hook, left head kick into a clinch against the cage with 3:30 left in the second. Bennett finding it difficult to deal with Katja's wrestling pressure, who drags her to the mat. Bennett using a guillotine to threaten in order to try and get back to her feet but she doesn't have the hooks to make it work. Bennett wall walks to her feet but Katja is relentless in trying to get this down again. Bennett grabs a body leg and slams Katja with 1:45 remaining. Katja has a weak guillotine which she gives up. Bennett tries to pass guard but gets swept in the process and now Katja takes her back. Bennett rolls out and grabs a single leg. Katja lands in a cradle and briefly takes top control but Bennet once again rolls out. Bennett with a guillotine from standing position and decides to jump for it with 20 seconds left. Katja will survive and even up this fight. 19-19.
Round 3: Katja wades in with punches, forcing Bennett to circle away. She catches a front kick and Katja is in side control. Bennett stands back up but a body lock forces her back to the control. Careless move by Bennett and Katja has a head and arm choke. She opts to use the position to take Bennett's back with 3:30 remaining. Bennett tries to remove the hooks and a scramble ensues and Katja is back in full guard. Katja heavy on top and Bennett looks like she's not sure how to get back to her feet with 90 seconds remaining. Katja moves back to side control, leading Bennett to attempt to get back up but loses her back. Another scramble and now Katja has a head and arm choke on the opposite side. It's no good but she wins the fight. 29-28 Kankaanpaa

Flyweight: Roxanne Modafferi (17-12) vs. Mariana Morais (9-2)
Round 1: Both fighters exchanging frequently early on and Modafferi gets a body lock lands in full mount early. Modafferi landing short shots but nothing damaging. Modafferi looking for a crucifix despite falling back into half guard. Modafferi landing some elbows to the head. Morais has an underhook but she can't get off her back with it. Neither fighter really doing much as Modafferi holds top control but stuck in half guard. Morais looking hopeless on her back here. Just as I say that, Modafferi gets lazy and gets swept with 20 seconds remaining. 10-9 Modafferi.
Round 2: Right lands for Modafferi early in the second but these are not power shots, to put it mildly. Modafferi landing well however and it opens up the possibility for a clinch against the cage. Morais reverses the pressure and grabs a body lock. Morais switching stances a lot, which tells me she doesn't really have a style, just haphazard punching. Modafferi shoots with 3 minutes left but an easy sprawl for Morais. Modafferi attempting a hip throw and finally succeeds, landing in full mount. Weak punches for Modafferi but it's mainly to break Morais' body lock from the bottom. Now Modafferi postures up and lands some "ground and pound" or as close to that description as you can get with a fighter like Modafferi. Morais rolls onto her belly but it's not much better for her. Modafferi with elbows to the side of the head and she might get the ultra-rare stoppage. Morais bucks and nearly throws Modafferi but fails. She survives to the bell. 20-18 Modafferi.
Round 3: Modafferi works into a clinch early on and grabs a single leg. Morais grabs a guillotine in full guard but Modafferi pushes her head out and she's safe. Several uneventful minutes pass of mild ground and pound in full guard and some armbar attempts that are not serious threats. Modafferi finally works into side control with 1:45 left. Modafferi steps over into mount again and this looks like it'll be over soon, even with the weak ground and pound of Modafferi. Morais doing nothing and Big John McCarthy steps in to call it quits.

Flyweight: Rachael Ostovich (2-1) vs. Andrea Lee (2-1)
Round 1: Ostovich in flamboyent Wonder Woman fight kit. Lee with a left hook leads to a clinch briefly but nothing heavy lands. Overhand right for Ostovich lands. Lee with a nice step jab. Displaying some nice head movement as well. Throws a nice body punch as her corner calls for it at 3:15. Ostovich lands a right head kick that doesn't seem to hurt Lee. Ostovich tries a "superwoman" punch off the cage that misses. Lee landing some nice kicks but her overhand right is missing wildly. Ostovich falls down and she lands an axe kick to the body. She stuns her and Lee swarms for a finish, getting Ostovich's back for a moment. The two separate and Lee is back on stalking duty. Switch kick on Ostovich and Lee is moving well. Spinning back fist lands for Ostovich but Lee looks fine. Another kick to the body and Ostovich goes down. She jumps on her back but won't have time to finish her. 10-9 Lee.
Round 2: Ostovich moving well again to start the second round. Another spinning back fist lands for Ostovich but Lee has a chin. Both girls missing their punches a lot. Left lands for Lee. Switch kick for Lee to the body but not much on it. Corner begs Lee to let her hands go and she does, forcing Ostovich to move away. A spinning back kick lands for Ostovich. Lee can't seem to avoid the spinning shit. Lee drops her with a straight left and then she's picked up and nearly suplexed as Lee takes her back. Ostovich tries to do a judo throw but fails to shake off Lee as she knees her to the bum bum. Lee tries to climb on the back but fails, lands a knee to the body as a consolation prize and Ostovich in survival mode again. Lee with a head kick with 30 seconds left and she drags Ostovich to the mat again but time will once again run out. 20-18 Lee.
Round 3: Left hand and body kick for Lee to start the round but Ostovich catches a kick and gets top position for the first time in the fight. Lee gets a deep half and a near sweep, forcing Ostovich to abandon the position and get back to her feet. Ostovich is bleeding now and a Thai plum with knees opens her up further. Ostovich gets a desperation takedown and she's on top in a very loose quarter guard. Almost had an armbar but didn't try and grab it and now Lee is on top in guard with a canopener attempt. Ostovich rolls for an armbar but it's not there with 2:30 left. Elbows from Lee and Ostovich is in a position where she can't move much. Now Lee on her opponent's back and Ostovich is belly down with 1:45 remaining. Lee with a dominant position but she can't find the finish here. Ostovich is miraculously going to see the judges. On second thought, we have a submission by armbar at 4:59.

Featherweight: Cindy Dandois (5-2) vs. Megan Anderson (4-1)
Round 1: Anderson comes out pawing with the left jab, tries to corner Dandois and gets taken down for her efforts, landing in side control. Dandois tries to mount but puts herself in half guard instead. Now finds the full mount with 3:30 left in the first. Anderson tries to buck but Dandois has air tight top game. Anderson nearly sweeps but loses her arm in the process. Anderson tries to stack and breaks the armbar. But Dandois lands a triangle choke shortly after and Anderson is back in trouble with 1:45. Dandois sweeps into a mount and Anderson is helpless as the Belgian lands dozens of unanswered strikes. Anderson wall walks out of the submission and they're back to their feet. Dandois looking winded and Anderson pawing forward again as she did four minutes ago when she got taken down. Anderson lands a right hand but it's way too little. 10-9 Dandois.
Round 2: Dandois stumbles forward like a zombie, tries an awkward headlock hip toss and somehow lands it. Wow. Anderson tosses her off and they're back on their feet. Anderson lands a hard overhand right. Dandois tries to change levels, gets stuffed and pulls guard instead. Anderson follows her down and Dandois throws up a triangle effortlessly. Pulling on the head searching for the sub finish, Dandois readjusts. She taps with 2:20 left.

Strawweight: Jamie Moyle (3-0) vs. Sharon Jacobson (3-1)
Round 1: Jacobson wearing a dress the cage. That's interesting. Tries to push Moyle up against the fence but can't get the takedown. Jacobson with double underhooks and knees her against the cage. Moyle's takedown defence holding up but Jacobson happy to win points against the fence with knees. Moyle breaks free and the two exchange right hands. Jacobson whiffs on a 1-2 and Moyle lands the counter. Jacobson continues forward pressure but keeps getting countered due to poor/no head movement. Jacobson has Moyle back up against the fence with 1:45 remaining and Moyle uses the Thai clinch to land some punishment. Right standing elbow by Moyle. Jacobson breaks away and tries to brawl, then lands some uppercut dirty boxing. Swarms on Moyle and lands some good shots forcing her to circle away. Right uppercut by Jacobson and a hard left elbow. Right hands to body and Jacobson steals the round back with her late aggression. 10-9 Jacobson.
Round 2: Jacobson comes out and misses four punches as she wades in. Moyle happily counters the wide open chin. Right high kick by Moyle. Jacobson continue to miss as she presses forward but finally secures the clinch with 4 minutes left. Scoops up Moyle and gets her first takedown of the night. Jacobson stands up and can't seem to find her way back down on top. Moyle stands up and Jacobson clinches again to knee the legs of her opponent. Left elbow by Jacobson but a right hand by Moyle staggers Jacobson. Now Moyle has her hurt and swarms for a finish but Jacobson recovering as she throws bombs hazhazardly. Jacobson initiates another clinch to clear the cobwebs with 2 minutes left. The two exchange knees to the body which backs up Moyle and Jacobson swarms. The two break away and it's unclear who has the advantage. Jacobson pushes her against the cage again and throws wild punches. Jacobson with a single leg and almost scores a takedown with 30 seconds left but Moyle pops back up and fights off the attack. Close round. 19-19.
Round 3: Kick to the body for Jacobson but Moyle with a counter left. Moyle keeping Jacobson at bay with front push kicks. Jacobson wades in and lands a huge single leg slam. Moyle with an armbar attempt but easily thwarted. Jacobson stands up again and loses position. She clinches once again, preferring to throw elbows against the cage with 3 minutes remaining. Jacobson with a 1-2 that lands. Grabs a double leg, picks her up and slams her, follows up with hard punches and Moyle is fading on her back. Jacobson in full guard against the cage but she stands up again and loses position. Moyle wearing the damage on her face now and she glances at the clock. It reads 1:30. Jacobson with right hands to the body. Moyle trying to break the clinch but Jacobson is relentless. Jacobson with dirty boxing forces Moyle back to the cage and this looks like it's a done deal. 29-28 Jacobson.

Atomweight: Jinh Yu Frey (3-1) vs. Liz McCarthy (2-2)
Round 1: Frey comes out with fast hands against McCarthy. Frey is southpaw which is proving to be tricky for orthodox fighter McCarthy already. Nice right hook for Frey as McCarthy paws the jab forward. Frey lands with a left hook and is out again before the counter. McCarthy moving well but her punches are all missing. She gets aggressive and charges forward and Frey changes levels for an easy takedown into side control with 3:15 remaining. Frey stands up and tries to land a monster left but McCarthy is already standing by the time it lands on the mat. Left body kick for Frey and then a left follows shortly after. McCarthy finally lands a nice right hand the best of her night. McCarthy tries a high kick and falls on the mat but Frey can't capitalize. McCarthy with another right that snaps Frey's head back with a minute left. Nice left hook by Frey and she swarms on McCarthy, forcing her to search for space. 10-9 Frey.
Round 2: The two are back in the center of the cage and McCarthy is consistently falling short of her punches. She seems to be wasting a lot of energy measuring with strikes that aren't landing. Frey exploits this distance by landing low kicks. Frey tries a lunging knee but it's nowhere near McCarthy's chin. McCarthy tries to force Frey into the cage and a change of levels results in a takedown with 3 minutes left in the second. An armbar attempt causes Frey to stand up quickly and the fight is back on the feet. Nice head movement for Frey as McCarthy swings wildly, mainly missing as usual. "That right hand looked hard. Unfortunately it didn't land," sayds Julie Kedzie on the broadcast, summing up this fight. Frey lands a left upperhook that appears to hurt McCarthy but there's a 1-2 counter. Frey with a left head kick, blocked. McCarthy can't find an opening worth exploiting. Big exchange near the bell. 20-18 Frey.
Round 3: The two come out swinging again but unless McCarthy finds a hole to exploit in Frey's game she's hopelessly behind on the scorecards. Right hand lands for McCarthy with 3:30 left in the third. A 1-2 combination for Frey. McCarthy with a 5 punch combo entry into a clinch but only one punch lands. McCarthy very aggressive and pursuing Frey around the cage but head movement and lateral movement keeps her out of danger. McCarthy with good volume in this round as Frey appears to be playing counter puncher. Hard right hand is returned by a combination from McCartyhy. A nice right hand and then a body kick and Frey actually looks a little upset about the state of affairs, forcing her to shoot for a takedown. It's stuffed and McCarthy is trying to drag Frey into deep waters. Hard left by Frey backs up her opponent and we're 30 seconds from the horn. Body kick by Frey. McCarthy swarms but it's too late. 29-28 Frey.

Round 1: Acevedo is wearing a giant friggin cat on her fight kit. I kid you not. Aldrich comes out with the jab with Acevedo tries to land leg kicks. Aldrich fighting southpaw and lands cleanly with the left hand early and often. Another hard right hand by Aldrich. The two clinch and Aldrich forces Acevedo up against the fence. She begins kneeing Acevedo in the body "aiming for the nose of the kitty cat" as Julie Kedzie says on the broadcast. Hard body shot from a knee collapses Acevedo and follow up strikes appears to put her out cold.

Flyweight: Aspen Ladd (1-0) vs. Amanda Bobby Cooper (1-0)
Round 1: Ladd comes out aggressively and lands a few strikes before taking a nasty counter in her entry to a takedown attempt. Tries a hip throw and nearly gives up her back. Ladd with a clinch on Cooper against the cage, but is reversed and Cooper lands an elbow to the head. Aspen fighting for underhooks and turns Cooper back around as they fight for control. Ladd lands a knee but Cooper with a counter right elbow. Ladd has a small hematoma on her forehead with 2 minutes left. She grabs a takedown into open half guard. Cooper always sweeps her as she tries to posture up but Ladd keeps top control. Cooper throws up a quick armbar and Ladd fighgting furiously to escape and she does with 1 minute left. Ladd stands up to ground and pound and gets swept the exact same way. Ladd maintains top control and continue ground and pound with hammerfists. 10-9 Ladd
Round 2: Ladd comes out and makes a beautiful level change to score an immediate takedown. Cooper having trouble staying off her back now as Ladd works in half guard and searches for a keylock. She torques it and Cooper grimaces in pain. Ladd continues to work the submission and Cooper fights out of it with 2:45 remaining. Ladd takes the opportunity to take full mount, however briefly. Cooper nearly sweeps by bucking but gives up her back instead. Ladd tries landing some ground and pound but Cooper is turtled up with her forehead on the mat. Ladd fishes for a rearnaked choke as Cooper goes flat on her stomach. Ladd cranks Coopers forehead back to sink her arm underneath. Palm to palm with a minute left. It's on her chin and Cooper turns around. Ladd goes crazy on top landing brutal elbows, cutting her open badly. The finish looks close. Ladd jumps on an armbar and gets the beautiful finish.

Wiley comes in with a 6-2 record as an amateur. No word on Spencer's amateur record.
Round 1: The two clinch right away with knees from Spencer. She pushes Wiley into the fence but the two break away. More knees into the midsection of Wiley but she takes it. Spencer goes for a single leg and scores the takedown at 4 minute mark and lands into half guard. Wiley has a massive hematoma on her forehead as Spencer lands ground and pound. She moves into side control with 3 minutes remaining. Spencer lands some brual elbows in the crucifix position. Wiley can't find a way to escape as the ground and pound scores large on the scorecards. Spencer with knees the body and relentless elbows to the face. It's called with 1:30 remaining.
